We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Location: Lagos Reports to: CEO Department: Business Development The Role This is a leadership position for someone who can think strategically, execute effectively, and build commercial systems that scale. As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, we are looking for an exceptional commercial leader to build and lead our revenue engine. The CCO is a field based role. The candidate will be responsible for driving the company's commercial growth by developing strategic partnerships, expanding institutional sales, building a high-performing business development function, and creating sustainable revenue streams. Key Responsibilities: Build and manage a strong pipeline of institutional opportunities. Develop and implement sales processes, CRM systems, and commercial KPIs. Lead proposal development, negotiations, and contract closing. Develop and execute Smart Energies' commercial growth strategy. Lead business development, strategic partnerships, and revenue generation. Oversee marketing activities to ensure they generate qualified business opportunities. Secure partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, development partners, corporate organizations, foundations, cooperatives, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders. Work closely with the CEO to identify new market opportunities and expand Smart Energies' impact. Build, mentor, and lead the commercial team as the company grows. What Success Looks Like Within the first 6 months, the successful candidate will have: Implemented measurable commercial systems and KPIs. Increased institutional sales and revenue. Positioned Smart Energies as a leading clean energy access partner in Nigeria. Established strategic partnerships across multiple sectors. Built a robust commercial pipeline. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 12 years' progressive experience: in business development, commercial leadership, partnerships, or strategy. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage. Bachelor's Degree. Proven track record of generating significant revenue through strategic partnerships and institutional sales. Strong proposal writing, presentation, and negotiation skills. Experience: working with corporates, government agencies, high networth individuals, development organizations, or the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
