The successful candidate will be expected to build a proactive, data-driven and disciplined planning system that identifies potential shortages, inventory risks and production constraints before they affect operations. The role will provide strong forward visibility of production and supply requirements: and will work closely with Technical, Production, Procurement, Warehouse, QA/QC, Finance and Commercial teams to ensure continuity of manufacturing and optimum use of company resources. The PPIC & Supply Chain Planning Manager will be responsible for translating business demand and approved operational priorities into practical production plans and ensuring that the required raw materials, packaging materials and other production inputs are available at the right time and in the right quantities. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning and Scheduling: Track production-plan adherence and identify delays, bottlenecks and emerging constraints. Monitor actual production against approved schedules. Develop realistic production sequences taking into account batch sizes, equipment availability, changeovers, cleaning requirements, maintenance schedules and manufacturing lead times. Coordinate production planning with the Technical Director and Production team. Translate production requirements: into detailed manufacturing and packaging schedules. Develop and maintain weekly, monthly and rolling production plans based on demand, inventory requirements, production capacity and approved business priorities. Maintain a forward production plan that provides adequate visibility to Procurement, Warehouse, QA/QC and Management. Recommend schedule adjustments and recovery plans where production targets are at risk. Continuously improve production scheduling efficiency and reliability. Matererials Requirement Planning: Ensure changes in formulations, BOMs, pack configurations or production requirements: are promptly reflected in material planning. Monitor material requirements: against production schedules and expected delivery dates. Maintain a comprehensive tracker of outstanding and critical materials. Determine the quantities and required dates for raw materials, packaging materials and other production inputs. Generate and communicate material requirements: to Procurement. Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to monitor delivery commitments. Develop accurate Material Requirements: Plans (MRP) based on approved production schedules and current Bills of Materials. Continuously review material requirements: against actual consumption and production performance. Identify potential material shortages well in advance of planned production. Inventory Planning and Control: Identify slow-moving, excess, obsolete and near-expiry materials. Investigate significant inventory variances and coordinate corrective actions. Establish and maintain appropriate minimum, maximum, reorder and safety-stock levels. Develop action plans for inventory risks and ageing stock. Ensure planning data and inventory information remain accurate and reliable. Balance inventory availability with working-capital requirements. Prevent avoidable stock-outs and excessive inventory accumulation. Monitor raw-material, packaging-material and finished-goods inventory levels. Analyse inventory consumption patterns and trends. Monitor inventory turnover and overall inventory performance. Monitor material expiry exposure and support effective FEFO practices. Procurement and Supply Planning: Escalate critical shortages and delayed deliveries promptly. Support optimisation of purchasing quantities in line with production requirements: and inventory strategy. Provide Management with forward visibility of material availability and supply-chain risks. Track purchase orders and expected delivery dates for critical materials. Work with Procurement to develop appropriate responses to supply risks. Support supplier lead-time analysis and material-sourcing strategies. Identify supplier delays and material-supply risks that could affect production. Monitor procurement activities against required production dates. Provide Procurement with accurate and timely material requirements: arising from approved production plans. Warehouse and Material Availability: Coordinate material availability for upcoming production batches. Monitor materials in quarantine, approved/released stock, rejected stock and other relevant inventory categories. Ensure production plans are based on accurate and current inventory information. Maintain visibility of material quantities and status against production requirements. Monitor material returns and inventory adjustments that may affect production plans. Support timely staging and issuance of materials for production. Work closely with Warehouse to ensure timely availability of materials required for production. Incorporate material receipt, sampling, testing and release timelines into production planning. Demand and Supply Planning: Provide Management with early visibility of potential supply constraints. Analyse historical consumption and demand trends. Recommend appropriate production priorities based on demand, inventory, material availability and business requirements. Identify gaps between forecast demand, available inventory and manufacturing capacity. Develop rolling demand and supply plans. Develop alternative supply scenarios where demand or supply conditions change. Translate approved demand into manufacturing requirements. Review sales forecasts, customer requirements: and finished-goods inventory. Production Capacity Planning: Provide Management with timely information on capacity gaps and their potential impact on supply. Maintain visibility of available production capacity in collaboration with Technical and Production teams. Incorporate equipment availability, maintenance schedules, changeovers and other operational constraints into planning. Identify potential capacity constraints and bottlenecks. Monitor the impact of production downtime and operational disruptions on the overall production plan. Compare planned production requirements: against available manufacturing capacity. Support development of alternative production scenarios where demand exceeds available capacity. Cross-Functional Planning and Coordination: The PPIC Manager will serve as a central coordination point between: Commercial / Demand, PPIC & Supply Planning, Production Planning, Material Requirements: Planning, Procurement, Warehouse & Material Availability, Production Other Responsibilities: Promote strong cross-functional accountability for meeting production and supply commitments. Coordinate regular PPIC and supply-planning meetings. Maintain an integrated production and material-planning calendar. Maintain a live register of material shortages, supply risks and production constraints. Follow up actions arising from planning meetings. Ensure all relevant functions have appropriate forward visibility of upcoming requirements. Escalate unresolved issues promptly. Communicate production requirements: and priorities clearly across departments. GMP and Quality Coordination: Work closely with QA/QC to ensure material release and testing timelines are appropriately considered in production plans. Support effective planning around quality-control and quality-assurance requirements. Incorporate pharmaceutical GMP requirements: into planning and scheduling activities. Support CAPA activities associated with PPIC and materials-management processes. Participate in investigations relating to material shortages, planning failures, inventory discrepancies and production interruptions. Ensure production planning is based on current approved formulations, BOMs and specifications. Maintain appropriate planning records and documentation in accordance with company procedures and GMP requirements. ERP, Data and System Management: Analyse production, inventory and supply-chain data to support decision-making. Maintain accurate planning master data, including BOMs, lead times, stock levels, reorder points and planning parameters. Continuously improve the company's planning systems and processes. Utilise ERP/MRP systems effectively for production and material planning. Ensure planning data is accurate, current and reliable. Develop appropriate planning tools, dashboards and trackers where required. Management Reporting: Prepare regular PPIC and Supply Chain reports covering: Production plan versus actual. Production schedule adherence. Inventory accuracy. Working-capital exposure. Material consumption trends. Material availability. Near-expiry materials. Production capacity. Inventory value. Critical material shortages. Slow-moving and obsolete stock. Reports should provide clear, accurate and forward-looking information that enables Management to make timely decisions. Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Production/Industrial Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management or another relevant discipline. Relevant training and knowledge of pharmaceutical GMP. A professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Production Planning, Inventory Management or Operations Management will be an advantage. Demand and supply planning Minimum of 7 years relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory PPIC, supply-chain planning, production planning or inventory-control position.
