Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and recommend practical, commercially sound solutions. Advise clients on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, financing arrangements, investments, and business transactions. Identify opportunities for tax efficiency while ensuring full regulatory compliance. Interpret and apply relevant Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and emerging tax policies. Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns. Ensure compliance with companies' income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), withholding tax (WHT), personal income tax (PAYE), capital gains tax, stamp duties, tertiary education: tax, NASENI levy, NITDA levy, and other statutory obligations. Monitor changes in tax legislation and proactively advise clients on their implications Review tax computations, schedules, and statutory reports for accuracy and completeness. Tax Audits & Regulatory Engagements: Lead statutory tax audits, tax investigations, tax reviews, and due diligence engagements. Represent clients before the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), state internal revenue services, Nigeria Customs Service, and other regulatory agencies. Prepare responses to tax assessments, objections, and regulatory enquiries. Negotiate and resolve tax disputes while maintaining strong regulatory relationships. Risk Management & Internal Controls: Evaluate clients’ tax control frameworks and identify compliance risks. Recommend improvements to tax governance, policies, and internal control systems. Client Service & Business Development: Manage a portfolio of tax clients across multiple sectors. Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
