Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Electrical Engineer – Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) to join our Engineering and Maintenance team in Lagos. The successful candidate will undergo structured on-the-job training and gain practical experience: in electrical maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, power distribution, preventive maintenance, installation, testing, and industrial electrical systems. The role is designed for a recent Electrical/Electronics Engineering graduate who is eager to develop practical engineering skills and build a career in industrial operations and maintenance. Key Responsibilities: Assist senior electrical engineers in the maintenance and operation of electrical systems and equipment. Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on electrical installations and machinery. Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults and equipment breakdowns under appropriate supervision. Conduct routine inspections of electrical panels, motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, cables, and other electrical equipment. Assist with electrical installations, modifications, testing, and commissioning activities. Monitor electrical equipment performance and report abnormalities, faults, and potential failures. Support the preparation and execution of preventive maintenance schedules. Assist in electrical testing, measurements, and basic fault diagnosis using appropriate test instruments. Support maintenance activities involving motors, starters, control panels, sensors, lighting systems, and industrial electrical equipment. Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment condition, breakdowns, and repairs. Support senior engineers in identifying recurring electrical faults and implementing corrective measures. Assist in reviewing electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and equipment manuals. Participate in installation and maintenance projects under the guidance of experienced engineers. Ensure electrical maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards. Observe and comply with electrical safety, isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures. Assist in monitoring energy consumption and identifying opportunities for improved electrical efficiency. Support electrical inspections and ensure equipment is maintained in safe operating condition. Work closely with Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation, HSE, and other teams to resolve operational issues. Participate in toolbox meetings, technical training, maintenance reviews, and engineering projects. Prepare basic technical reports and maintenance updates as required. Keep up to date with relevant electrical engineering standards, technologies, and best practices. Perform other engineering duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or supervising engineer. Requirements: & Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized institution. 0–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. NYSC completion/discharge certificate or exemption letter where applicable. Strong interest in electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, and engineering operations. Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, motors, control systems, and electrical protection. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams. Basic knowledge of electrical testing and measurement instruments. Knowledge of industrial electrical systems is an advantage. Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or other relevant engineering software is an advantage. Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Relevant electrical, technical, HSE, or professional certifications will be an added advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to learn, work on-site, and participate in practical maintenance activities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
