We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Makun, Sagamu - Ogun Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary This role ensures that all mechanical systems operate in full compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), NAFDAC regulatory guidelines, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity, operational efficiency, and safety of all manufacturing equipment, packaging lines, and plant utilities across the pharmaceutical facility Key Responsibilities: Machinery Maintenance & Operations: Blister packing machines, liquid filling/capping machines, sachet machines, and strip packagers. Execute scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and rapid troubleshooting/repair for processing machinery, including: Lead mechanical setups, tool/die changes, and mechanical adjustments during production batch changeovers to ensure zero damage and minimal downtime. High-shear granulators, Fluid Bed Dryers (FBD), Rapid Mixer Granulators (RMG), tablet compression machines, and coating pans. Engineering & Projects: Assist in monitoring engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, and maintenance costs. Support the execution of engineering projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades. Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and engineering records. Participate in qualification and validation activities for new equipment and systems. Compliance & Safety: Promote workplace safety and ensure adherence to HSE policies and procedures. Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities. Ensure calibration and maintenance activities are carried out according to approved schedules. Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, safety regulations, and pharmaceutical industry standards. Utilities & Facilities Management: Oversee the maintenance of utility systems including HVAC, boilers, generators, compressors, purified water systems, and electrical installations. Monitor facility conditions and coordinate repairs when necessary. Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to support production operations. Utility & HVAC Management: Oversee the operation, servicing, and pressure-testing of plant utilities: Industrial boilers and steam distribution systems. Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and water recycling systems. Oil-free air compressors and pneumatic supply networks. Chillers, cooling towers, and water generation/distribution plants (Purified Water / Water for Injection). Maintain Air Handling Units (AHUs), HEPA filtration systems, and ducting to preserve pressure cascades and environmental controls required for cleanrooms. Compliance, Safety & Documentation: Ensure all mechanical repairs, modifications, and lubrications use food/pharma-grade materials (e.g., NSF/H1 lubricants) and comply with sanitary standards. Enforce safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), pressure vessel safety, hotpermits, and factory floor health and safety regulations. Maintain audit-ready engineering logbooks, equipment maintenance history cards, Equipment Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) records, and change control documentation. Job Specifications & Qualifications Required Education: & Experience: B.Sc. or HND in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. COREN registration or NSE membership is an added advantage. Experience: Proven experience: working with high-speed automated packaging and tableting machinery. 3 to 6 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience: in a pharmaceutical manufacturing, FMCG, or food processing environment. Key Technical & Functional Skills: Strong command of pneumatic circuits, valves, cylinders, and hydraulic actuators. Ability to read and interpret mechanical fabrication drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and assembly schematics. In-depth knowledge of industrial steam systems, air compressors, and HVAC/AHU setups. Practical experience: with pharmaceutical equipment will added more advantage.
