Post a Job CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP CHANNEL Compliance Officer Job at Bretty Consultancy Services Bretty Consultancy Services, an HR and Business consultancy firm, is recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below: Job Position: Compliance Officer Job Location: Agbara, Ogun Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our team in Agbara, Ogun State. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the plant operates in full compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and internal company requirements. The role will support the organization's regulatory governance framework through timely statutory filings, maintenance of compliance records, liaison with regulatory authorities, compliance monitoring, and advisory support to management on regulatory obligations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in minimizing legal, operational, and reputational risks while promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements: and advise management and relevant departments on potential business impacts. Coordinate and facilitate timely statutory filings, licence renewals, permit applications, and regulatory submissions. Serve as the primary point of contact with government agencies and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to: National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), where applicable Fire Service and other relevant regulatory authorities Maintain up-to-date compliance registers, statutory records, licences, permits, and certifications. Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits to identify potential gaps and recommend corrective actions. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance checklists to ensure adherence to statutory and internal policy requirements. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and coordinating responses to audit findings. Prepare and present periodic compliance reports to management. Investigate compliance-related issues and recommend preventive and corrective measures. Collaborate with HR, Finance, Operations, Legal, Procurement, HSE, and other departments to ensure regulatory compliance across all business functions. Coordinate compliance awareness programs and educate employees on regulatory obligations and company policies. Maintain proper documentation relating to inspections, regulatory visits, correspondence, and compliance activities. Track and ensure timely closure of regulatory observations, audit findings, and compliance action plans. Perform other compliance-related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Law, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Political Science, Industrial Relations, or any related discipline. Professional certification in Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Corporate Governance, or related fields will be an added advantage. Membership of relevant professional bodies is desirable. Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience: in Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Regulatory Affairs, or Legal Compliance. Prior experience: within a manufacturing or chemical industry environment is highly preferred. Experience: liaising directly with government agencies and regulatory bodies is a significant advantage. Required Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of Nigerian statutory and regulatory requirements. Excellent understanding of corporate governance principles and compliance frameworks. Sound knowledge of compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and regulatory reporting methodologies. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
