We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel Location : Edo Responsibilities: Continual compliance risk assessment of business practices together with the development of internal policies and procedures, compliance training and protocols. Review all relevant laws and regulations applicable to the business. Keep abreast of global regulatory developments and industry initiatives and advise management accordingly Ensure that business activities are conducted in conformity with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts including concession agreements, project finance documentation, construction contracts, service-level agreements, joint venture agreements, and procurement contracts. Manage highly contentious litigation and dispute resolution, including overseeing external counsel, developing case strategies, and ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution of disputes. Partner with colleagues in each of the Business Units’ key stakeholders to develop and implement compliance standards, processes, programs, and best practices. Monitor and interpret relevant legislation, regulations, and case law, advising the business on implications. Generally, provide all necessary legal support across the business. Deploy legal protocols and toolkits as necessary to ensure practices are effective and compliant with regulations Support project development, financing, and implementation from a legal perspective, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulatory frameworks. Liaise with auditors, external lawyers, tax advisers, bankers, investors, shareholders and other relevant stakeholders Ensure that all regulatory permissions remain current and appropriate for business needs, and carry out required reporting Foster constructive community and stakeholder relations by promoting open communication, addressing grievances promptly, and ensuring that the Company’s activities build trust, goodwill, and mitigate risks arising from stakeholder engagement. Provide proactive legal advice and guidance on corporate, commercial, and regulatory issues affecting the business.
