E’sorae Group is looking for an entrepreneurial, commercially driven and results-oriented Assistant restaurant Manager to manage one of its subsidiaries. The successful candidate will support the Restaurant Manager in the overall management and daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that the business consistently delivers excellent food, service, guest experience, and operational standards. The role requires a hands-on manager who is comfortable working on the business and in the business. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will have a stronger focus on evening operations and will be required to work more evening shifts, particularly during busy periods, weekends, events, and other periods of high business activity and on a rota basis. Responsibilities: Daily Restaurant Operations: Monitor service flow and quickly resolve operational issues as they arise. Take responsibility for the smooth running of assigned shifts, particularly evening shifts. Coordinate effectively with the kitchen, service, bar, cleaning, and support teams. Ensure all restaurant SOPs and operational standards are consistently followed. Support the Restaurant Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Ensure the restaurant is properly prepared before service and properly closed at the end of each shift. Be actively involved in service delivery rather than functioning solely in a supervisory capacity. Evening Shift Management: Confirm that cash, POS, inventory, equipment, and the restaurant premises are properly secured before closing. Take primary supervisory responsibility for assigned evening shifts. Ensure the restaurant maintains excellent service standards throughout the evening. Escalate significant operational, customer, financial, or security issues to the manager. Ensure proper closing procedures are completed at the end of each evening shift. Monitor staff performance, guest traffic, table turnover, and service speed. Customer Experience: Ensure every guest receives a warm, professional, and memorable dining experience. Handle customer complaints and service recovery professionally and promptly. Personally engage with guests where necessary to understand their experience: and resolve concerns. Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, repeat visits, and customer loyalty. Maintain the restaurant’s service standards and brand image at all times. Monitor customer satisfaction throughout service. Team Supervision & People Management: Coach team members on service standards, product knowledge, communication, and guest engagement. Address minor performance and conduct issues promptly and escalate serious or repeated issues appropriately. Support the Restaurant Manager with staff training, onboarding, evaluations, and performance management. Monitor punctuality, attendance, grooming, attitude, and work performance. Allocate duties and ensure adequate coverage across the restaurant. Lead by example and demonstrate the expected standard of professionalism and service. Supervise restaurant staff during assigned shifts and provide direction where required. Working In the Business: The Assistant Restaurant Manager is expected to remain actively involved in the operation and may be required to: Assist in resolving service bottlenecks. Support the service team during busy periods. Assist with guest seating and table management. Support the team during peak dining periods and events. Step into operational roles when staffing levels or business demands require it. Ensure that management presence is visible on the restaurant floor. Support order taking and customer engagement where necessary. Reviewing sales and operational performance with the Restaurant Manager. Providing management with feedback on customer trends, staff performance, and operational challenges. Contributing ideas that can improve profitability, efficiency, and customer experience. Monitoring restaurant performance and identifying areas for improvement. Identifying opportunities for upselling and improving average customer spend. Sales & Revenue: Support special events and promotional activities that drive restaurant traffic and revenue. Encourage effective upselling and cross-selling by the service team. Support the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets. Monitor sales performance during shifts and identify opportunities to increase revenue. Ensure staff have adequate knowledge of menu items, beverages, promotions, and other offerings. Inventory, Cost Control & Compliance: Ensure proper handling of company property, equipment, cash, and other assets. Monitor wastage and ensure proper portion and usage controls are followed. Ensure all health, safety, hygiene, and food-handling standards are maintained. Support stock counts and inventory check as required. Report shortages, damages, spoilage, or unusual variances promptly. Support proper control of food, beverages, consumables, and restaurant supplies. Required Qualifications & Experience: Experience: managing evening, weekend, and high-volume shifts is an advantage. Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability. Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Good leadership and people-management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 3–5 years’ experience: in restaurant, hospitality, or food service operations. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Previous supervisory or management experience: in a restaurant or hospitality environment. Good knowledge of POS systems, basic inventory control, and restaurant reporting. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and customer service. Personal Attributes The ideal candidate should be: Firm but fair when managing people. Organized and detail oriented.
