As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Zonal Union Affairs Officer Location: Cairo, Egypt R esponsibilities Member Associations Management: Prepare management dashboards, analytical reports and status updates covering Member Associations and Zonal Unions, including activity, budget and institutional performance information to support management decision-making. Maintain accurate and up-to-date institutional records and databases for Member Associations and Zonal Unions, including General Assembly agendas, minutes and related statutory documentation. Monitor Member Association activities, commitments and key institutional milestones, including General Assemblies, governance requirements: and agreed follow-up actions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Member Associations, leading regular calls, meetings and follow-up engagements and ensuring that key matters are addressed in a timely manner. Manage an assigned portfolio of Member Associations, serving as a key focal point for ongoing engagement, institutional support and follow-up on CAF requirements: and priorities. Assess and monitor Member Associations’ institutional and operational needs, ensuring these are regularly updated, analysed and communicated to the Director of Member Associations and relevant CAF departments. Prepare or coordinate meeting records and minutes where required, ensuring that decisions and agreed actions are properly documented and followed up. Coordinate cross-functional support to Member Associations with other functions of the MA Division and relevant CAF departments, including Financial Governance, Central Review processes, Action Plans and statutory audit requirements. Prepare executive presentations, briefing notes and internal and external correspondence relating to Member Association matters. Zonal Union Relations Management: Maintain comprehensive records relating to Zonal Union governance and competitions, including budgets, payments, participating teams, meeting agendas, minutes and other institutional documentation. Monitor Zonal Union activities, institutional requirements: and agreed deliverables, identifying issues requiring follow-up or escalation and ensuring timely resolution. Serve as a principal operational focal point for the Zonal Unions, maintaining regular engagement with Executive Directors and coordinating matters with the Head of Zonal Union Affairs, Director of Member Associations and relevant CAF departments. Support the Head of Zonal Union Affairs in the planning and delivery of Zonal Union initiatives, including meetings, workshops and activities organised alongside the CAF General Assembly and other CAF events. Coordinate the collection, review and consolidation of information required by CAF from Zonal Unions, and prepare management reports, briefings and recommendations as appropriate. Review Zonal Union competition budgets and supporting documentation and coordinate the preparation of payment requests with the Financial Governance function, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved allocations. Track Zonal Union payments and liaise with Finance and the relevant Zonal Union to ensure timely communication of payment status and confirmation. Monitor Zonal Union competition budgets and funding requirements, ensuring alignment with approved competitions, participating teams, fixtures and applicable CAF funding parameters. Monitor overall Zonal Union budget utilisation and financial performance, providing periodic accountability and management reports to the Head of Zonal Union Affairs, Director of Member Associations and other relevant senior management. Additional Activities: Track agreed actions, commitments and deadlines arising from engagements with Member Associations and Zonal Unions, proactively identifying delays, risks or areas requiring management intervention and escalating them as appropriate. Monitor Member Associations’ and Zonal Unions’ compliance with applicable CAF requirements, policies, reporting obligations and agreed action plans, coordinating follow-up with the relevant CAF departments. Support the implementation and monitoring of CAF programmes and strategic initiatives involving Member Associations and Zonal Unions, ensuring effective coordination, reporting and follow-up with the relevant stakeholders. Coordinate with relevant CAF departments to ensure that matters affecting Member Associations and Zonal Unions are addressed consistently and within agreed timelines, and follow through until resolution. Provide regular analysis, recommendations and briefing notes to the Director of Member Associations and Head of Zonal Union Affairs on key developments, emerging issues and matters requiring management attention or decision. Identify opportunities to strengthen and standardise CAF processes, tools and working methods relating to Member Association and Zonal Union management, reporting and institutional follow-up. Requirements: (profile) Proven ability to review and monitor budgets, financial information and reporting requirements, with strong attention to accuracy, accountability and compliance. Strong analytical and reporting skills, Proven ability to manage multiple portfolios, priorities and deadlines, ensuring effective follow-up and delivery across several stakeholders simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments and manage sensitive or complex stakeholder matters professionally. Ability and willingness to travel frequently across Africa as required. Written and spoken English and French are mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic and/or Portuguese would be an advantage. University Degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, International Relations, Finance, or a related field. A relevant Master’s degree would be an advantage. Strong leadership, organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Demonstrated experience: in stakeholder and relationship management, with the ability to engage effectively with senior officials, football administrators, and institutional partners across different cultures and environments. Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience: in football administration, sports management, international organisations, or a comparable environment, including experience: managing relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
