We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Business Development Officer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The successful candidate must have proven hands-on sales experience: specifically within the IVD, medical diagnostics, laboratory equipment, or laboratory reagent industry. The role involves identifying and developing customers, promoting IVD products, conducting product presentations and demonstrations, managing accounts, preparing quotations and tenders, and achieving assigned sales targets. IVD industry experience: is strictly required for this position. Candidates without relevant IVD/diagnostics sales experience: will not be considered. The Sales / Marketing Officer will be responsible for driving sales and market growth for the company’s In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) products, laboratory equipment, reagents, consumables, and related diagnostic solutions. Key Responsibilities: IVD Product Sales & Business Development: Conduct regular customer visits and maintain an active sales pipeline. Achieve and exceed assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Follow up on quotations, proposals, purchase orders, and pending opportunities to ensure timely conversion. Identify and develop new customers across hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, medical laboratories, research institutions, clinics, and other relevant healthcare facilities. Develop sales strategies for assigned products, territories, and customer segments. Drive sales of IVD equipment, laboratory analyzers, reagents, consumables, diagnostic kits, and related laboratory products. Generate qualified leads and convert opportunities into sales. Product Promotion & Marketing: Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the company's IVD product portfolio and competing products in the market. Conduct product presentations, technical sales presentations, equipment demonstrations, and customer training where required. Clearly communicate product features, applications, benefits, and competitive advantages to customers. Promote the company's IVD products and solutions to prospective and existing customers. Support product launches, promotional campaigns, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and other marketing activities. Equipment & Reagent Sales: Promote associated reagents, calibrators, controls, consumables, and accessories to existing and prospective users. Work closely with technical/service teams to support equipment installation, demonstrations, customer training, and after-sales requirements. Understand customer laboratory workflows and recommend appropriate products and solutions. Identify equipment placement opportunities and develop opportunities for recurring reagent and consumables sales. Drive sales of laboratory and diagnostic equipment, including analyzers and other IVD systems. Customer & Account Management: Monitor customer needs and provide market feedback to management. Provide effective post-sales follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. Manage existing accounts and identify opportunities for repeat purchases, product upgrades, cross-selling, and upselling. Build and maintain strong relationships with laboratory managers, pathologists, biomedical scientists, procurement officers, hospital administrators, distributors, and other key decision-makers. Maintain regular communication with customers and respond promptly to enquiries. Quotations, Tenders & Sales Documentation: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, quotations, orders, and sales activities. Prepare and submit quotations, commercial proposals, and other sales documentation. Follow up on submitted quotations and tenders through to award and order placement. Monitor tender opportunities and coordinate required documentation for submissions. Identify and participate in relevant public and private sector tenders. Market Intelligence: Provide management with relevant information on market trends, customer requirements, competitor activities, and pricing. Identify emerging diagnostic technologies, products, and market opportunities. Monitor competitor products, pricing, market positioning, promotions, and customer activities. Conduct regular market research within the IVD and laboratory diagnostics market. Recommend strategies to improve product positioning and sales performance. Sales Reporting & Performance: Prepare accurate weekly and monthly sales reports. Monitor outstanding opportunities and proactively follow up for conversion. Provide regular feedback on sales activities, challenges, and opportunities. Track sales targets, customer acquisition, quotations, orders, and revenue performance. Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline and provide reliable sales forecasts. Payment & Order Follow-Up: Maintain good commercial relationships while ensuring compliance with company credit and payment policies. Monitor outstanding invoices and support the Accounts team with payment follow-up. Follow up on customer purchase orders and ensure timely processing of sales. Qualifications Experience: selling to hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, medical laboratories, clinics, research institutions, or healthcare organizations is highly desirable. Proven record of achieving or exceeding sales targets. Experience: with public/private sector procurement and tenders is an advantage. Demonstrable experience: selling laboratory equipment, analyzers, reagents, diagnostic kits, consumables, or related IVD products. Minimum of 2–4 years of proven sales experience: specifically in the IVD, medical diagnostics, laboratory equipment, reagents, or laboratory consumables industry. HND or BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Science, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. IVD industry experience: is mandatory. Key Skills & Competencies: Good reporting, organizational, and follow-up skills. Ability to identify sales opportunities and convert leads into revenue. Excellent product selling, prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills. Strong market research and competitor analysis skills. Target-driven, commercially minded, and results-oriented. Strong presentation, product demonstration, and communication skills. Excellent customer relationship and account management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/sales management tools. Strong understanding of laboratory equipment and diagnostic workflows. Ability to work independently and manage a defined sales territory. Strong IVD and laboratory diagnostics sales knowledge. Ability to sell both capital equipment and recurring reagent/consumable products. Strict Experience: Requirement: General sales, marketing, pharmaceutical sales, FMCG sales, or general business development experience: without relevant IVD experience: does not meet the requirements: for this position. Only candidates with direct and verifiable experience: in IVD, medical diagnostics, laboratory equipment, laboratory reagents, diagnostic kits, or laboratory consumables sales will be considered. Benefits: Basic Salary: N150,000 monthly gross (negotiable). Sales Commission: 1% of total sales achieved, subject to achievement of the applicable sales target. Airtime Token: N5,000 monthly. Annual Leave: 15 working days in line with company policy and applicable eligibility requirements. Mobility / Field Float Allowance: N60,000 monthly to support field activities, paid bi-monthly.
