The University was established, first as Midwest Institute of Technology. After attaining the status of a full-fledged university in line with requirements: of the National Universities Commission on the 1st of July, 1971, the name was changed to the University of Benin. The Institution became a federal government owned University on the 1st of April, 1975. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: PTDF Professorial Chair, Renewable Energy Location: Benin, Edo Summary Application to fill the Chair is open to all qualified Nigerians within and outside the University. Chair Holders' Research Area will be expected to focus on "Development of Bioenergy and Biofuels Technology". The Petroleum Technology Development Fund has instituted a Chair in Renewable Energy In the University of Benin, Benin City in view of the relevance of renewable energy to national development and the need to support Indigenous research In the area. Requirements: Applicants therefore must be distinguished university scholars, preferably Professors of Engineering with demonstrable academic and research leadership; adequate research experience; and be able to carry out multi disciplinary research. The chair holder shall, in addition to research, teach relevant courses in Petroleum Chemistry at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as carry out other academic duties as may be assigned by the University. Condition of Service The appointment shall be for a three-year period in the first instance, renewable for another two years based on performance. The condition of service is as obtainable in the Nigerian University System with provision for funding of research, attendance at conferences and travels.
