Since commencing operations in March 1997 the company continues to grow and exerts its presence in numerous Projects in the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Legal Counsel Location: Lagos Main Functions Provide comprehensive legal advisory and contractual support to the Company across Corporate, Non-Operated Assets, and Country Services by conducting legal research, interpreting legislation and regulatory requirements, drafting and negotiating contracts, assessing legal risks, supporting business transactions and projects, and managing litigation, arbitration, and engagements with partners, contractors, government agencies, and external counsel. Responsibilities: Identify, analyze, and interpret national and international statutory and regulatory texts and contractual documents at draft stage or in force. Advise on the interpretation, application, and enforcement of such texts. Provide legal opinions/advice to relevant COMPANY’S departments/project teams on a wide range of legal issues. Participate in negotiations with COMPANY’S’s partners, contractors and relevant government agencies. Handle routine to complex legal dossiers and take part in negotiations with partners, contractors, and government agencies. Participate in preparing, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements and contracts used in the E&P Industry. Provide legal and contractual support to the COMPANY’S asset departments/project teams in assigned matters, including in its liaison with partners, as applicable. Participate in negotiations with COMPANY'S partners, contractors and relevant government agencies. Analyze and interpret Nigerian legislation and/or draft bills; follow up and regularly review new legislations and pending bills in National Assembly. Advise on pre-litigation phases, handle litigation and arbitration matters, liaise with external counsel in any litigation/arbitration and settlement process, and represent the company in court and tribunals.
