We are seeking a highly competent, detail-oriented, and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist with expertise in Haematology to join its laboratory team. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of haematology, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and interpreting haematological investigations, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory results, maintaining quality standards, and supporting clinicians in the diagnosis and management of patients. Key Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other laboratory professionals to support effective patient care. Conduct coagulation studies and other investigations within the scope of practice. Perform routine and specialized haematological investigations accurately and efficiently. Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of haematology analysers and other laboratory equipment. Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures, test results, quality control activities, and equipment maintenance. Maintain strict compliance with biosafety, infection prevention, and waste disposal procedures. Participate in internal quality assurance, audits, and continuous improvement activities. Identify and report abnormal or critical laboratory findings promptly to the appropriate healthcare professional. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards at all times. Assist with blood grouping, cross-matching, and other transfusion-related laboratory procedures where applicable. Process, handle, and store blood and other clinical specimens appropriately. Perform blood film preparation, staining, examination, and interpretation. Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures, quality control measures, and laboratory protocols. Conduct full blood count (FBC), differential white blood cell counts, platelet counts, ESR, and other relevant haematological tests. Monitor the performance of laboratory equipment and report faults promptly. Ensure proper storage and monitoring of reagents, blood samples, and laboratory consumables. Education: & Professional Requirements: Registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent qualification. Specialization, professional training, or postgraduate qualification in Haematology is an added advantage. Valid current practising licence. Experience: working with automated haematology analysers and hospital laboratory information systems is an added advantage. Demonstrable experience: in Haematology is required. Minimum of 2–10years Post- Nyscexperience in a medical laboratory setting. Other Requirements: Strong commitment to patient safety, accuracy, and quality laboratory services. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary healthcare team. High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality. Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required. Required Skills & Competencies: Ability to perform and interpret blood film examinations accurately. Good documentation and report-writing skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of coagulation and haemostasis investigations. Proficiency in operating automated haematology analysers. Ability to work under pressure and meet turnaround-time requirements. Strong teamwork and professional conduct. Good understanding of quality control and quality assurance procedures. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong knowledge of haematology and related laboratory procedures.
