The HSE Officer is responsible is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across petroleum operations, waste management, pollution control, haulage, and marine services. Key Responsibilities: Incident Investigation: Lead root cause analysis using ICAM, TapRooT, or 5-Why methods; ensure corrective actions are implemented. Waste & Pollution Control: Oversee waste segregation, hazardous chemical storage, effluent compliance, and spill response. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to DPR guidelines, NESREA standards, and ISO frameworks. Permit to Work: Administer PTW systems for hot work, confined space, lifting, and marine operations. Environmental Stewardship: Monitor emissions, noise, wastewater, and marine pollution. Emergency Preparedness: Organize drills (oil spill, fire, H2S, marine accidents), maintain ERP, and ensure readiness of emergency equipment. Site Inspections: Carry out routine inspections, behavioral safety observations, and audits across facilities. Risk Assessment: Conduct hazard identification, job hazard analysis (JHA), and risk registers for petroleum, industrial, and marine operations. Training & Induction: Deliver toolbox talks, induction programs, and competency tracking for staff and contractors. Key Requirements: Strong communication, leadership and ability to influence safety culture. Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Health & Safety. Strong knowledge of Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Content Development Act, Factories Act, ISO 45001/14001. Professional certification such as NEBOSH, ISPON, First Aid, Fire Safety, Spill response 3 - 5 years’ experience: in HSE within oil & gas or related industries.
