Job Title: Community-Based WASH Supervisor Location: Demsa LGA, Adamawa State Employment Type: Short-Term Contract (1 Month) Reports To : WASH Officer Job Purpose The Community-Based WASH Supervisor will support the timely and effective implementation of community-level WASH activities, ensuring that planned interventions are delivered in a coordinated and quality-assured manner. The position will work closely with communities, community structures, local stakeholders, and the WASH team to identify priority WASH needs, facilitate appropriate interventions, and promote safe hygiene and sanitation practices. Key Responsibilities: Support the timely implementation of WASH activities in targeted communities in accordance with approved plans and schedules. Conduct and support rapid field assessments to identify priority WASH needs, gaps, and emerging concerns. Mobilize communities and engage community leaders, WASH committees, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation. Support hygiene promotion, sanitation awareness, and other community-based WASH activities. Monitor water points, sanitation facilities, and other WASH infrastructure and promptly report functionality issues or emerging needs. Support the distribution and appropriate use of WASH-related supplies and materials, where applicable. Establish and/or strengthen community-based WASH structures and support them to promote sustainable WASH practices. Conduct regular field monitoring visits and provide timely feedback on implementation progress, challenges, and required actions. Collect accurate beneficiary, activity, and monitoring data and ensure proper documentation. Prepare timely field reports and updates for submission to the WASH Officer. Ensure that community feedback, complaints, and concerns are documented and referred through established accountability mechanisms. Promote meaningful participation of women, men, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in WASH activities. Coordinate closely with the WASH Officer and other project team members to ensure activities are implemented efficiently and within agreed timelines. Immediately report safeguarding, protection, security, or other critical concerns identified during field activities. Perform other duties relevant to the effective delivery of WASH activities as assigned by the WASH Officer. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of OND / HND in Environmental Health, Public Health, Water Resources, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Community Development, or a related field. At least 1 years of relevant experience: in WASH, hygiene promotion, community mobilization, humanitarian response, or related programming. Demonstrated experience: working directly with communities and community-based structures. Good understanding of community-based WASH programming, hygiene promotion, and sanitation practices. Experience: conducting field assessments, monitoring activities, collecting data, and preparing field reports. Ability to work effectively under tight timelines and respond to changing field priorities. Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to work extensively in communities and field locations. Knowledge of the local context and relevant local languages in Adamawa State is an advantage. Previous experience: working with an NGO or humanitarian organization is highly desirable.
