The Senior Architect is responsible for leading and coordinating architectural design and construction activities across assigned projects. The role provides technical and design leadership, ensuring that architectural solutions are functional, aesthetically appropriate, technically sound, cost-effective, constructible, and compliant with approved designs, statutory requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and established timelines. Key Responsibilities: Architectural Design & Development: Review design proposals and recommend improvements where necessary. Translate client requirements: and project briefs into practical architectural solutions. Ensure architectural designs meet functional, aesthetic, structural, environmental, and construction requirements. Ensure consistency and accuracy across all architectural documentation. Develop and review plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and specifications. Incorporate sustainable and cost-effective design principles into projects where applicable. Lead the development of architectural concepts, designs, and detailed construction drawings. Project Planning & Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors, and Consultants. Lead architectural activities from concept development through construction and project completion. Monitor architectural deliverables to ensure they are completed within agreed timelines. Identify design-related risks and provide timely solutions. Coordinate architectural requirements: with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines. Coordinate architectural deliverables with project schedules and milestones. Construction & Site Supervision: Review completed works and identify defects, deviations, and areas requiring correction. Ensure approved design intent is maintained throughout project execution. Provide technical clarification to contractors and site teams. Review shop drawings, material samples, mock-ups, and technical submissions. Design Quality & Compliance: Ensure designs comply with approved project specifications and client requirements. Ensure architectural works comply with applicable building codes, regulations, standards, and statutory requirements. Support the QA/QC team in establishing appropriate architectural quality standards. Review designs for constructability, functionality, safety, and quality. Ensure architectural non-conformities are identified and closed promptly. Identify design inconsistencies and ensure timely resolution. Client & Consultant Management: Act as a key architectural interface between the company, client, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders. Present design proposals and technical solutions to clients and management. Attend design review, progress, coordination, and technical meetings. Manage architectural comments and ensure timely responses. Maintain effective professional relationships with consultants and project stakeholders. Minimise unnecessary redesign, material wastage, and construction rework. Review design changes for their potential cost and programme implications. Identify opportunities for value engineering. Work with Quantity Surveyors to assess the architectural impact of variations. Team Leadership & Mentoring: Promote professional standards, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team. Lead and supervise Architects, Graduate Architects, Architectural Technologists, and other design personnel. Allocate tasks and monitor the performance of architectural team members. Review team members' drawings and technical deliverables. Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance. Compliance with approved designs, specifications, and statutory requirements. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years' relevant experience: in architectural design and construction. Must be registered with ARCON and possess relevant professional certification/licensing. Strong knowledge of Nigerian building regulations, construction standards, and statutory approval processes. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from a recognised institution. Good understanding of construction methods, materials, detailing, and building services coordination. Proven experience: in managing architectural aspects of major building or infrastructure projects. Master's Degree in Architecture or a related field is an added advantage. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D visualisation, or other relevant architectural software.
