The head office is located in Abuja, with mining, operational, and processing sites spread across 22 of the 36 states in Nigeria. Kursi holds titles for some of the most viable mineral assets in Nigeria, with combined mineral resources and reserve estimates of over USD 100 billion. We mine, process, and trade in base metals, precious stones, and rare earth minerals, supplying off-takers, manufacturers, and end-users in the global value chain. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: HR Specialist Location: Bode Saadu, Kwara Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The Human Resources Specialist will support the Head, Human Resources and Administration in coordinating and strengthening the HR function for Kursi Group’s Ilorin operations. The role will be responsible for effective use of approved HR digital platforms, including Zoho, Echo and any other HR information systems adopted by the Group, with a strong focus on compliance, data accuracy and timely reporting. The role will provide technical HR guidance, support effective implementation of HR policies and procedures, maintain accurate HR information, and ensure timely delivery of HR operational support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, learning and development, compliance, HR administration and reporting. The HR Specialist will also directly supervise the HR Officer, providing day-to-day guidance, task allocation, quality control, coaching and performance feedback to ensure that HR administrative processes are delivered accurately, confidentially and within agreed timelines. Key Responsibilities: General HR Technical Support: Maintain HR dashboards, reports and situation updates required for management decision-making. Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of HR processes, policies, tools, templates and standard operating procedures. Provide technical HR support and advice to employees, line managers and relevant functional leads on HR processes, policies and procedures. Guide the HR Officer on employee documentation, records management, leave tracking, onboarding logistics and other HR administrative deliverables. Support the implementation of recommendations arising from internal audits, external audits, compliance reviews and management directives. Advise on applicable Nigerian labour law, statutory HR requirements: and HR best practice, escalating complex matters where required. Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc HR reports within agreed timelines. Review outputs prepared by the HR Officer to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, completeness and alignment with company standards. Recruitment and Onboarding: Coordinate and participate in interview panels and ensure that interview records and recruitment documentation are properly maintained. Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, assessment documentation, selection processes and candidate communication. Oversee onboarding and induction for new employees, ensuring proper documentation, orientation and smooth integration into the organisation. HR Administration and Records Management: Manage employee attendance, leave records and payroll input documentation, ensuring timely submission of accurate information to relevant stakeholders. Prepare HR documents such as offer letters, employment contracts, confirmation letters, disciplinary letters, internal memos and other official HR correspondence. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including physical files and digital HR records. Ensure strict confidentiality and proper handling of employee information and personnel records. Employee Relations: Assist in handling disciplinary matters, grievances, workplace concerns and performance-related issues in line with company policy and applicable law. Serve as a point of contact for employee HR-related inquiries and provide timely guidance or escalation as appropriate. Promote a professional, respectful and values-driven workplace culture. Support employee engagement initiatives, welfare activities and internal HR communications. Policy, Compliance and HR Systems: Maintain accurate HR data on approved HR platforms and support HR data analysis for planning, compliance and management reporting. Support compliance with labour laws, statutory requirements: and internal documentation standards. Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen control, efficiency and accountability within the HR function. Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies, procedures, company guidelines and approved HR workflows. Learning, Development and Performance Support: Coordinate training programmes, workshops and capacity-building initiatives and maintain records in line with identified organisational needs. Support implementation of performance management and employee development processes, including documentation, follow-up and reporting. Performance Metrics Accuracy and completeness of employee records and HR systems data. Timely and accurate completion of HR reports, records and documentation. Achievement of agreed Human Resources and Corporate Services KPIs. Effective supervision, guidance and follow-up of the HR Officer’s deliverables. Compliance with statutory, policy and organisational HR requirements. Employee satisfaction, engagement support and timely resolution or escalation of HR issues. Quality and timeliness of recruitment, onboarding and HR administrative processes. Qualifications and Experience: Education: Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or a related field is an added advantage. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or a related field is required. Experience: Demonstrable knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, statutory HR requirements: and HR best practice. Professional HR certification such as CIPM, SHRM, HRCI or a related certification is an added advantage. Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant HR experience, preferably with exposure to HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, policy implementation and HR administration. Experience: supervising or guiding junior HR personnel is required. Required Skills and Competencies: Sound judgement, problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Proficiency in HR information systems, Microsoft Office tools and HR data reporting. Ability to supervise, guide and follow up on the work of junior HR staff. Good knowledge of Nigerian labour law, employee relations practice and HR compliance requirements. High level of confidentiality, professionalism and ethical conduct. Strong recruitment, onboarding, records management and HR administration capability. Strong organisational, time management and reporting skills. Strong HR technical knowledge and practical understanding of HR operations. Good communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
