This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about the science of reading and can bridge the gap between early literacy and advanced linguistic mastery. You will be responsible for guiding students from their first letter sounds (Age 4) through to complex morphology and etymology (Age 13). Core Responsibilities: Instructional Delivery: Teach systematic, synthetic phonics to Early Years and Key Stage 1, ensuring a solid foundation in the 44 phonemes of the English language. Curriculum Adaptation: Transition older students (Ages 9–13) from basic decoding to advanced spelling rules, syllabication, and the study of Greek and Latin roots. Assessment & Tracking: Conduct regular diagnostic assessments to identify gaps in phonemic awareness and implement targeted intervention plans. Multi-Sensory Engagement: Develop and use creative, hands-on resources—including sound buttons, sand trays, and digital interactive tools—to cater to diverse learning styles. Staff Mentorship: Act as a subject matter expert, providing workshops and "model lessons" for general classroom teachers to ensure a consistent approach to literacy across the school. Required Qualifications & Skills Educational Background: A degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field.
