Our aim over the years has been to provide complete real estate services. These include the sale and lease of residential and commercial properties, and long-term property management within Nigeria and Internationally. From our early days of operation, we have focused on using technology to compete and create a niche for ourselves in the Nigerian real estate industry. Unfortunately, we had to step down to a more analogue approach if we were to work with other stakeholders in the real estate space in Nigeria. We dare say that, Vestates was ahead of its time in that regard. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Account Officer Location: Abuja (FCT) Employment Type: Full-time DOJ: 16th March 2026 Reports to: Senior Finance Manager Job Functions This role will have strong financial oversight capabilities, multi-entity accounting experience, and the ability to implement internal controls across diverse industries. The Account Officer will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, regulatory compliance, and sound financial governance for both businesses. The Account Officer is responsible for overseeing financial operations, reporting, controls, and compliance across multiple business lines — 365 (Oil & Gas) and Apex (Hospitality). Key Responsibilities: Financial Operations Oversight (Multi-Business Management): Review and approve daily sales reports, expense postings, and reconciliations. Coordinate intercompany transactions where applicable. Monitor cash flow and liquidity requirements: for each business unit. Oversee daily financial transactions for both 365 and Apex. Ensure proper revenue recognition across both businesses. Supervise cashiers and finance support staff to ensure accuracy and compliance. Accounting & Financial Reporting: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies. Prepare management reports highlighting revenue trends, cost drivers, and profitability. Support external audits and provide required documentation. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain accurate general ledger records for both business lines. Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning: Support strategic decision-making with financial insights and scenario analysis. Track actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis. Assist in preparing annual budgets for 365 and Apex. Develop cash flow forecasts and financial projections. Monitor fuel inventory accounting (for 365) and food & beverage cost control (for Apex). Internal Controls & Risk Management: Design and implement internal financial controls across both businesses. Monitor for fraud risks, leakages, or financial irregularities. Ensure segregation of duties between cash handling, approvals, and reconciliations. Strengthen compliance procedures in line with industry best practices. Conduct periodic internal audits of cash, inventory, and financial records. Cash & Treasury Management: Oversee all cash handling processes and ensure timely bank deposits. Monitor POS transactions, transfers, and digital payment systems. Approve payment vouchers and authorize disbursements within delegated limits. Ensure proper safeguarding of financial assets and instruments. Review daily cash reconciliation reports submitted by cashiers. Regulatory Compliance & Taxation: Prepare and file relevant tax returns (VAT, withholding tax, etc.). Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and tax consultants when necessary. Ensure proper documentation and retention of financial records. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and statutory requirements. Leadership & Team Supervision: Collaborate with operations managers of both 365 and Apex to improve financial efficiency. Supervise and mentor cashiers and junior finance staff. Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and financial integrity. Train operational teams on financial discipline and documentation standards. Set performance targets and ensure accountability within the finance function. Required Qualifications & Skills Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ACA is an added advantage. Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience: in accounting or finance, preferably with experience: managing finances across multiple business units or entities. Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, or a related discipline. Working knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, including VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, and other applicable statutory obligations. Demonstrable experience: in financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, reconciliations, taxation, and internal controls. Experience: with accounting software/ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience: in multi-entity accounting, preferably across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Hospitality, Retail, or other high-volume transactional businesses.
