General Business Manager in a Fast-growing Retail and E-commerce Business - Bave Design Studio ⏲ Sep 9, 2026, 8:00 AM ⋕ View all Sales & Business Development jobs Bave Design Studio - Our client, a fast-growing retail and e-commerce business, is recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: General Business Manager Location: Ogudu GRA, Lagos Employment Type: Full-Time Seniority Level: Senior Management About the job We are looking for an experienced General Business Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the business and lead its operations across physical retail, e-commerce and wholesale channels. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and be responsible for bringing together multiple departments, ensuring that teams are performing effectively, business targets are being achieved, operational problems are resolved, and management has clear visibility into business performance. This is not simply a store management or administrative position. We are looking for an experienced business leader who understands people, operations, customers, inventory, sales and financial performance and can successfully manage multiple departments within a growing business. Key Responsibilities: Develop and enforce SOPs, policies and internal processes. Work closely with Finance to monitor revenue, expenses, margins, cash flow and overall financial performance. Oversee retail, e-commerce, wholesale, customer service, warehouse/inventory and other operational functions. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions. Take ownership of operational issues and resolve them without unnecessary escalation. Provide the CEO with regular reports on business performance, challenges, risks and priorities. Manage relationships with key vendors, partners and service providers where required. Manage, coach and develop managers and team members. Oversee the day-to-day management and performance of the business. Translate the CEO's strategic priorities into clear departmental goals and execution plans. Support recruitment, performance management and workforce planning. Review management reports and use data to identify problems and opportunities. Ensure departments communicate and work effectively together. Lead and coordinate department heads and ensure accountability across teams. Monitor sales and overall business performance across online and physical channels. Hold regular management and performance meetings with department heads. Support the continued growth and professionalisation of the business. Ensure accurate inventory management and investigate recurring stock discrepancies or operational losses. Ensure excellent customer experience: across physical and digital channels. Establish, monitor and review departmental KPIs. Requirements: Experience: developing and monitoring KPIs. Experience: managing a business with both physical and online operations is a strong advantage. Experience: within beauty, skincare, cosmetics, pharmacy, fashion, FMCG or another high-volume consumer retail business will be an advantage. Experience: within a retail and/or e-commerce environment is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of inventory, customer experience, sales and business operations. Demonstrable experience: managing multiple departments or functional teams. Strong proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and business management systems. Minimum of 5 years progressive business, retail or operations management experience. Ability to interpret financial and operational reports and use them to make business decisions. At least 3 years in a senior management position, such as General Manager, Business Manager, Head of Operations, Retail Operations Manager or similar. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability. Comfortable working in a fast-growing environment where systems and processes are continually improving. Strong people management and leadership skills.
