Sun Group entered into the Plastics industry through the acquisition of a plant in Sango Ota, Ogun State in 1991. A second plant was installed and commissioned in 2000 in Lagos. In 2015 both plants were merged under one roof in Ogun State. The plants, which operate under the names Bright Products Limited and Sunplast Industries Limited, are equipped with top-of-the-line injection molding machines from China, India and Taiwan. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Payroll Officer Location: Ota, Ogun Employment Type: Full Time Job Summary The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurately processing payroll and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. The role includes maintaining payroll records, administering statutory deductions, reconciling payroll data, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian labour and tax regulations. The ideal candidate should have 2–3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a large workforce. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Validate attendance, overtime, leave, and timekeeping records before payroll processing. Process final settlements for exiting employees. Prepare and process monthly payroll for permanent, contract, and casual employees. Ensure accurate computation of salaries, overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and other payroll components. Payroll Administration: Respond promptly to payroll-related enquiries and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality. Update payroll information relating to promotions, salary reviews, transfers, new hires, resignations, and terminations. Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and tax regulations. Calculate and remit statutory deductions, including: National Housing Fund (NHF) National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) PAYE (Pay As You Earn) Pension Contributions Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Time and Attendance Management: Monitor overtime, shift schedules, absenteeism, and leave records. Collaborate with department supervisors to verify attendance data. Review attendance reports and resolve discrepancies. Payroll Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile payroll data before salary payments. Prepare monthly payroll reports, statutory schedules, and management reports. Assist during internal and external payroll audits. HR and Finance Support: Work closely with Finance to ensure timely salary payments and statutory remittances. Collaborate with HR on employee data updates. Support payroll system improvements and process automation initiatives. Requirements: Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA, CIPM, or ICAN ATS is an added advantage. Experience: 2–3 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience: processing payroll for a medium to large workforce. Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS systems. Technical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills. Experience: using payroll software such as Sage Payroll, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF statements, data validation, and basic formulas). Knowledge of Nigerian payroll regulations and statutory deductions.
