Our client is seeking a competent, detail-oriented Lead Accountant to join its team. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to the accounting team, manage financial processes, and support strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis. The ideal candidate would be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and driving compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements and management reports. Track portfolio performance and provide insights on financial risks and opportunities. Lead loan accounting processes, including loan disbursements, repayments, interest recognition, and portfolio tracking. Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency. Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory reports, including VAT, SCUML, and other compliance requirements. Coordinate internal reporting, includingweekly and monthly activity reports. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support financial planning. Provide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to junior accounting staff. Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders as required. Supervise and review general ledger activities to ensure all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. Review statements of accounts and investigate discrepancies or exceptions. Conduct periodic financial audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies. Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Requirements: Experience: with loan accounting and portfolio management is highly preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication and reporting skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services. Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage. N250,000 - N350,000 per month.
