We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Writer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Role Purpose The successful candidate will be expected to translate complex healthcare information, research findings, patient experiences, and organisational initiatives into compelling and accessible narratives for different audiences. The Writer will be responsible for developing high-quality, research-driven written content that communicates IfeanHealth’s expertise, impact, and strategic priorities across multiple platforms. The role combines creative storytelling, research, thought leadership, healthcare communication, and digital content development. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, rigorous researcher, thoughtful storyteller, and strategic communicator who understands how strong content can influence perception, build authority, and advance organisational goals. Key Responsibilities: Content Development & Thought Leadership: Develop content around IfeanHealth's programmes, partnerships, research, community initiatives, and impact. Develop compelling patient stories, beneficiary profiles, community impact stories, and organisational success stories. Develop long-form content for the IfeanHealth website, publications, newsletters, reports, and external media platforms. Support the development of executive thought leadership content, including articles, speeches, opinion pieces, presentations, and public statements. Produce high-quality articles, opinion pieces, reports, newsletters, blog posts, features, speeches, and other editorial content. Identify relevant industry conversations, emerging trends, and topics that can be converted into strategic content opportunities. Develop thought leadership content that positions IfeanHealth as a credible voice in prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation, preventive health, disability inclusion, healthcare access, and social impact. Research & Insight Generation: Review academic publications, research papers, reports, industry publications, and credible data sources. Conduct in-depth research on healthcare, rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics, disability inclusion, public health, wellness, and social impact. Interview internal subject-matter experts, healthcare professionals, beneficiaries, partners, and other relevant stakeholders to develop original stories and insights. Translate complex research, statistics, and technical information into clear and engaging content for non-technical audiences. Monitor industry developments, healthcare trends, policy discussions, and emerging issues relevant to IfeanHealth. Ensure all research-based content is accurate, properly contextualised, and supported by credible sources. SEO & Digital Content: Review existing content and recommend opportunities for optimisation and repurposing. Develop SEO-friendly headlines, subheadings, meta descriptions, and content structures. Apply SEO principles to website articles, blogs, and other digital content. Work with the digital/marketing team to identify opportunities to improve organic visibility and website engagement. Conduct basic keyword research and incorporate relevant keywords naturally into content. Cross-Platform Content Adaptation: Collaborate with designers, content creators, videographers, and other members of the Marketing & Branding team to develop integrated campaigns. Provide written concepts, scripts, captions, storyboards, interview questions, and supporting copy for multimedia content where required. Repurpose long-form content into shorter formats for social media, email newsletters, websites, presentations, and other communication channels. Ensure that messaging remains consistent while being appropriately adapted for different audiences and platforms. Patient & Human-Interest Storytelling: Handle sensitive personal stories with empathy, professionalism, confidentiality, and respect. Conduct interviews with patients, families, healthcare professionals, community members, and other stakeholders. Obtain and maintain appropriate consent before publishing patient or beneficiary stories. Ensure storytelling preserves dignity and avoids exploitative or sensational narratives. Identify and develop meaningful patient and beneficiary stories that demonstrate the impact of IfeanHealth's work. Editorial Quality & Brand Alignment: Edit and proofread written materials produced by the organisation or assigned teams. Maintain consistency in terminology, tone, style, and messaging across communication channels. Ensure all content aligns with IfeanHealth's brand voice, messaging framework, values, and strategic communications objectives. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of editorial guidelines and content standards. Maintain consistently high standards of grammar, structure, clarity, accuracy, and readability. Fact-check content before publication and promptly correct inaccuracies when identified. Content Planning & Editorial Management: Maintain an organised archive of published and unpublished content, research materials, interviews, and relevant references. Work with the Marketing & Branding Director to prioritise content according to organisational objectives. Track deadlines and ensure assigned content is delivered within agreed timelines. Maintain a pipeline of relevant content ideas, story angles, and thought leadership opportunities. Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation's editorial calendar. Decision-Making Authority: The Writer will have: Authority to request relevant information, interviews, data, and expert input required to produce accurate content. Authority to propose content themes, story ideas, editorial angles, and thought leadership opportunities. Full ownership of assigned content development, research, drafting, editing, and submission. Responsibility for recommending improvements to content development and editorial workflows. Responsibility for identifying content gaps and opportunities across IfeanHealth's communication channels. Required Qualifications & Experience: Demonstrated portfolio of high-quality articles, reports, features, thought leadership pieces, or other published work. Experience: conducting research and converting research findings into compelling written content. 3–6 years of professional writing experience, preferably in healthcare, development, social impact, journalism, corporate communications, or a related sector. Experience: working with subject-matter experts and translating technical information into accessible language. Basic understanding of SEO and digital content optimisation. Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Health, Social Sciences, Mass Communication, or a related discipline.
