Our client seeks to hire an experienced Business Planning & Commodity Economics Analyst to assess the commercial viability of a proposed groundnut processing venture. Key Responsibilities: Commodity Market & Pricing Analysis: Identify opportunities for value creation through peak-season procurement, inventory carry, off-season processing, and sales. Evaluate inventory carry economics, including storage, financing, wastage, shrinkage, and quality deterioration. Analyze groundnut prices, seasonality, harvest cycles, supply-demand trends, and market movements across key producing regions. Assess market dynamics for groundnut oil, cake, and other by-products. Develop price forecasts, scenario models, and sensitivity analyses. Procurement & Supply Chain: Map key groundnut-producing regions, sourcing channels, suppliers, and aggregation models. Develop recommendations for optimal procurement, sourcing, and inventory strategies. Assess raw material availability, quality, logistics, seasonality, and supply risks. Financial & Commercial Analysis: Evaluate profitability under different commodity price, yield, storage, financing, and inventory scenarios. Provide commercial insights to support investment and business decisions. Develop procurement, pricing, margin, cash flow, and working capital models. Business Planning & Reporting: Validate key assumptions around processing yields, capacity, CAPEX, OPEX, and operational efficiency. Translate market and commodity analysis into actionable business recommendations. Support preparation of business cases, investment memoranda, and management presentations. Develop key commercial assumptions, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies. Requirements: Strong experience: in agricultural commodity market analysis, preferably grains, oilseeds, groundnut, or related commodities. Strong analytical, reporting, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience: in commodity analysis/trading, agribusiness, procurement, market intelligence, commercial analysis, or business planning. Experience: with commodity trading firms, agribusinesses, FMCG/food processing, procurement organizations, or commodity research firms is preferred. Knowledge of commodity forecasting and market intelligence is highly desirable. Strong financial modelling, quantitative analysis, forecasting, and commercial evaluation skills. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Good understanding of commodity pricing, procurement economics, supply chains, and inventory management. Experience: in Nigeria’s agricultural/commodity market is an advantage.
