We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join our team in Abuja. Key Responsibilities: Participate in the review and improvement of credit scoring models, risk-rating methodologies and credit decision frameworks. Review customer repayment behaviour, exposure levels, collateral positions and covenant compliance. Analyse portfolio performance and provide insights on delinquency, default, concentration and credit-quality trends. Work closely with Credit, Risk, Collections, Finance, Business Development and Operations teams. Conduct industry, business and borrower risk assessments to support informed credit decisions. Review loan applications, financial statements, bank statements, cash flows, management accounts and other relevant credit information. Identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigants, conditions precedent and monitoring requirements. Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements: and approved risk appetite. Analyse borrowers' financial capacity, repayment ability, leverage, liquidity, profitability and cash-flow position. Keep abreast of developments in the Nigerian financial services and lending environment that may affect credit risk. Monitor existing loan portfolios and identify early warning signals of potential deterioration. Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for individuals, SMEs and/or corporate customers. Support the development and implementation of credit risk policies, procedures and underwriting standards. Prepare periodic credit risk reports for senior management and relevant committees. Support stress testing, scenario analysis and portfolio risk assessments where required. Conduct post-disbursement reviews and recommend appropriate risk-control actions. Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports and make clear recommendations for approval, restructuring, reduction or decline. Requirements: Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. Strong report-writing and presentation skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration or a related discipline. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling. Minimum of 5–8 years' relevant experience: in Credit Risk/Credit Analysis, preferably within: Commercial Banks, Merchant Banks, Finance Houses, Microfinance Banks, Lending Companies, Fintech/Lending Fintechs, Asset/Investment Management, Other regulated financial institutions. Experience: analysing both SME and corporate credit will be an advantage. Strong knowledge of credit risk principles, lending practices and risk mitigation techniques. Strong experience: in credit appraisal, financial analysis, underwriting and portfolio risk management. Professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA, ICAN, CIBN, FRM or equivalent will be an advantage. Excellent understanding of financial statements and ability to interpret financial performance and cash-flow trends. High attention to detail, integrity and sound professional judgement.
