We are licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and are integrated into the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS). We are members of the Finance Houses Association of Nigeria (FHAN). We offer Lending Services (Project Finance, Asset Finance, Corporate finance, Consumer Loan, etc.), Fund Management Services, Advisory Services, and other services as authorized by the Central Bank of Nigeria. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Head of Risk Location: Victoria Island, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Reporting Line: The Head, Risk shall report directly to the Managing Director Objectives The Head of Risk shall be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective enterprise-wide risk management framework that enables the Company to identify, assess, monitor, control, and report risks arising from its business activities. The role shall provide independent risk oversight and guidance to Management and the Board on the Company's risk profile, risk appetite, capital adequacy, emerging risks, and the effectiveness of risk management controls. The Head of Risk shall ensure that risk considerations are appropriately integrated into the Company's strategy, product development, lending activities, investment decisions, operational processes, and overall business planning. Responsibilities: Enterprise Risk Management: Identify, assess, measure, monitor, and report material risks across the Company's business activities. Establish appropriate risk indicators, thresholds, limits, and escalation mechanisms. Monitor emerging risks and assess their potential impact on the Company's financial and operational performance. Maintain the Company's enterprise-wide risk register and ensure that identified risks have appropriate owners, controls, mitigation plans, and monitoring mechanisms. Promote a strong risk management culture across all levels of the Company. Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in line with applicable regulatory requirements: and industry best practices. Develop and periodically review risk policies, frameworks, methodologies, procedures, and risk assessment tools. Credit Risk Management: Monitor portfolio performance by product, sector, obligor, and other relevant risk segments. Monitor adherence to approved credit policies, lending criteria, delegated authorities, and credit approval limits. Provide oversight of credit risk arising from the Company's lending and financing activities. Provide input into the development and review of credit products and lending policies. Provide independent risk assessment on significant or high-risk credit proposals, where applicable. Review and monitor the Company's credit risk profile, portfolio concentration, asset quality, delinquency, non-performing exposures, provisioning, and recovery trends. Monitor large exposures, connected exposures, related-party exposures, and other concentration risks. Establish appropriate credit risk parameters, limits, concentration thresholds, and portfolio monitoring mechanisms. Identify trends in portfolio deterioration and recommend early intervention and remedial measures. Risk Appetite and Risk Framework: Escalate material breaches of risk limits and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Establish appropriate risk limits and risk tolerance levels for material risk categories. Develop and maintain the Company's Risk Appetite Framework in alignment with the company’s business strategy and capital position. Ensure clear documentation of risk decisions, exceptions, approvals, and risk acceptance. Support the Risk Management Committee and other relevant Board or Management committees with appropriate risk reports and analysis. Provide independent risk advice to Management and the Board on strategic and business decisions. Monitor the Company's risk exposures against approved risk appetite and limits. Operational Risk Management: Monitor operational risk incidents, losses, near misses, and recurring control failures. Maintain an operational risk register and monitor key operational risk indicators. Provide risk oversight over new systems, digital products, process changes, outsourcing arrangements, and other significant business initiatives. Identify and assess operational risks arising from people, processes, systems, technology, external events, and third parties. Ensure appropriate root-cause analysis and corrective actions are undertaken for significant operational incidents. Coordinate the identification, assessment, and mitigation of process and control weaknesses. Market, Liquidity and Investment Risk: Assess interest rate and other relevant market risks arising from the Company's financial activities. Monitor risks arising from the Company's investment, treasury, funding, and liquidity activities. Monitor liquidity positions, funding concentrations, maturity mismatches, and liquidity risk indicators. Escalate material liquidity, market, or counterparty risks to Management promptly. Provide risk input into investment decisions and the Company's funding and liquidity strategy. Capital Adequacy, ICAAP and Stress Testing: Incorporate stress-testing results into capital planning, risk appetite, and strategic decision-making. Assess the adequacy of the Company's capital relative to its current and projected risk profile. Conduct or coordinate periodic stress testing and scenario analysis covering material risks. Coordinate the Company's Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) Assess the potential impact of adverse economic, credit, liquidity, operational, and business scenarios on the Company's capital and financial position. Monitor capital adequacy and provide early warning of potential capital pressures. Recommend appropriate capital buffers and risk mitigation measures where required. Business Continuity and Resilience: Ensure material business continuity risks are identified, assessed, and appropriately escalated. Monitor the Company's preparedness for significant operational disruptions. Review business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements in collaboration with relevant functions. Provide risk oversight for the Company's Business Continuity Management and resilience framework. Assess risks associated with critical business processes, systems, technology, vendors, and third-party service providers. Products, Projects and Change Management: Monitor post-implementation risks associated with significant new products and projects. Assess the risk implications of changes to lending criteria, investment products, digital platforms, processes, and operating models. Provide independent risk assessment for new products, services, channels, systems, and significant business initiatives. Ensure appropriate risk controls and mitigation measures are incorporated before material initiatives are implemented. Participate in product development and project governance to identify risks before implementation. Risk Reporting: Provide timely analysis of significant changes in the Company's risk profile. Prepare periodic risk reports for Management, relevant Management Committees, and the Board. Ensure that risk reports are accurate, complete, timely, and sufficiently informative for decision-making. Report breaches of approved risk limits and recommend corrective actions. Develop and maintain risk dashboards covering key risk indicators, risk appetite, portfolio quality, concentrations, operational incidents, liquidity, capital adequacy, and other material risks. Provide forward-looking risk analysis and highlight emerging threats to the Company's objectives. Resources and Support: The Head of Risk shall serve as the Head of Department for both the ERM and Credit Risk Units, providing strategic direction, oversight, coordination, and leadership across both functions. Access to support functions including Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Operations, Customer Service, Information Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, and other business units as required to effectively discharge the responsibilities: of the Risk Department. Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, PRM, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage. Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline. 8–10 years' relevant experience, with substantial experience: in risk management within banking, finance companies, fintech, investment management, or other regulated financial institutions. Demonstrable experience: in enterprise risk management, credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, market risk, and risk governance. Experience: with stress testing, capital adequacy assessment, and ICAAP is highly desirable. Strong understanding of CBN prudential and regulatory requirements: applicable to financial institutions. Competencies & Attributes: Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements: and corporate governance principles. Strong leadership and people-management capabilities. Ability to independently challenge business decisions from a risk perspective. Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and portfolio risk management.
