We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Safety Officer Location: Kaduna Employment Type: Renewable fixed term contract Role Summary Knowledge and experience: as HSE officer in construction environment is critical to success in this role. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and protocols, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all employees, contractors, and visitors on the construction site and office area. Role Summary This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and protocols, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The Safety Officer plays a critical role in preventing accidents and injuries, promoting a culture of safety, and responding to emergencies. The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all employees, contractors, and visitors on the construction site and office area. Key Responsibilities: Safety Program Development and Implementation: Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards. Training and Education: Develop training materials and resources to support ongoing safety education. Educate site personnel on safe work practices and the proper use of safety equipment. Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors. Incident and Accident Investigation: Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety-related documentation. Prepare detailed reports on accidents and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and implement corrective actions. Emergency Preparedness and Response: Coordinate and conduct emergency drills to ensure preparedness. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Act as the primary contact for emergency situations and coordinate response efforts. Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections and audits. Ensure the site is in compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations. Stay updated on changes in safety regulations and standards. Risk Management: Implement control measures to mitigate identified risks. Monitor and review safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential safety risks. Safety Culture Promotion: Encourage open communication about safety concerns and suggestions. Minimum of 5 years of experience: in safety management within the construction industry. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred. Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
