Compliance Officer Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 5 years Location Lagos Job Field Risk Management and Compliance JOB PURPOSE: Supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Company\'s compliance programme. Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies. Identifying, monitoring, and reporting compliance risks across the Company. Conducting compliance reviews and supporting AML/CFT/CPF compliance programmes. Coordinating regulatory reporting and promoting a strong culture of compliance to safeguard the Company from regulatory, legal, financial, and reputational risks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and review AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with laws, regulatory requirements: and international best practices. Ensure effective review and investigation of suspicious transactions/activities and reporting to relevant authorities, such as the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU). Develop and deliver in-house AML/CFT/CPF training to raise awareness among employees. Implement and manage Targeted Financial Sanctions and PEP screening processes. Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC), ensuring customers meet regulatory KYC requirements. Implement effective Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk customers. Manage regulatory and external audits, maintain compliance exception tracker and ensure timely closure of observations. Develop and maintain compliance rule book to track and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and legislations. Develop Board and Senior Management compliance reports. Develop mechanism, monitor and analyses ML/TF/PF emerging trends and typologies, ensuring that the Bank have adequate preventive measures to protect its system from being used as a conduit for financial crimes. Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure that ML/TF/PF controls and mitigation measures are in place and effective. Engage in cross-functional responsibilities: and performed other compliance functions as assigned by the Head of Compliance. Conduct ML/TF/PF risk assessment of the bank and generate a report for Management and the Board. EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in law, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Professional certification in Compliance, Risk Management, Anti-Money Laundering, or related fields (e.g., Compliance Institute of Nigeria (CIN), ACAMS, ICA, CRCMP) is an added advantage. Evidence of continuous professional development through relevant training, seminars, workshops, and regulatory certification programmes. SKILLS NECESSARY FOR JOB FUNCTION: Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, AML/CFT/CPF regulations, digital payments processes and systems, banking regulations and industry standards. Compliance monitoring, testing, and risk assessment skills. Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent report writing, documentation, and record management skills. Good understanding of internal controls, corporate governance, and risk management principles. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify compliance gaps and regulatory breaches. Effective communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to interpret regulations, policies, and procedures and provide sound compliance advice. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and compliance monitoring tools. Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate high ethical standards. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3–5 years\' relevant experience: in compliance, risk management, internal control, audit, or regulatory functions within the financial services industry. Experience: in compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, AML/CFT/CPF reviews, and regulatory examination support. Practical knowledge of implementing compliance policies, procedures, and control frameworks. Experience: in identifying, assessing, and reporting compliance risks and breaches. Experience: in engaging with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters.
