You lead through craft mastery, strategic thinking, and influence, not through people management. Make critical design decisions that affect multiple teams Partner with senior product and engineering leadership on strategy Contribute significantly to design system strategy and evolution Identify and solve systemic design problems across products Set design standards, patterns, and best practices that others follow Mentor and sponsor senior and mid-level designers (informally, no direct reports) Lead design strategy for major product areas or cross-product initiatives Requirements: Can work autonomously for extended periods without guidance Strategic product thinking and strong business acumen Ideally, 10+ years of product design experience: with demonstrated strategic impact Strong facilitation skills for workshops and alignment sessions Ability to influence without authority Comfortable operating with extreme ambiguity and creating clarity for others Mastery of design tools and advanced prototyping Makes high-stakes decisions.
