Originally established as a joint venture, it is now owned by Sagar Overseas Ltd. SVNL operates a modern facility with high-capacity production lines for tablets, capsules, ointments, and more, adhering to GMP standards. The company is NAFDAC-approved and partners with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health to support local drug production. Its product portfolio includes vitamins, antibiotics, and over-the-counter supplements. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Capsule Filling Operator Location: Makun City, Ogun Employment Type: Full-time Slot: 5 position Department: Production / Manufacturing Industry: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Reports To: Production Supervisor / Production Manager Job Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient capsule production while maintaining product quality, accuracy, cleanliness, and compliance with pharmaceutical manufacturing standards. We are seeking an experienced Capsule Filling Operator with a strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing to operate, monitor, and maintain capsule filling equipment in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable quality and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities: Operate automatic and/or semi-automatic capsule filling machines in accordance with approved SOPs and batch manufacturing records. Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and comply with gowning and controlled-area requirements. Assist with equipment assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting. Verify correct materials, product codes, batch numbers, and packaging/components before and during production. Monitor critical process parameters such as fill weight, machine speed, capsule locking, powder flow, and rejection rates. Participate in investigations of deviations, equipment issues, and production-related problems. Maintain accurate and complete production records, logbooks, and documentation. Minimize production losses, downtime, rejects, and material wastage while maintaining product quality. Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering, and Warehouse teams when required. Follow all GMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), safety, environmental, and company procedures. Ensure correct dispensing and filling of powder/granule formulations into capsules according to approved batch instructions. Ensure equipment and production areas are maintained according to GMP and contamination-control requirements. Perform other production-related duties assigned by the Production Supervisor or Manager. Perform routine cleaning and line clearance of capsule filling equipment and production areas. Conduct in-process checks and record results accurately in batch documentation. Perform machine changeovers, product changeovers, and equipment adjustments as required. Set up, adjust, and monitor capsule filling machines to achieve required production specifications. Identify and report machine abnormalities, deviations, product defects, and equipment malfunctions promptly. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Production rejects and material wastage. Production output versus planned targets. Machine efficiency and downtime. Compliance with GMP and SOP requirements. Capsule fill-weight accuracy and consistency. Accuracy and completeness of batch documentation. Number and severity of production deviations attributable to operator error. Timely completion of cleaning and changeover activities. Qualifications & Experience: Experience: with pharmaceutical solid dosage manufacturing is highly desirable. Previous hands-on experience: operating capsule filling machines is essential. Practical knowledge of capsule filling equipment, changeover, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting. 2–5 years of relevant experience: in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in capsule filling operations. Minimum qualification of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Good knowledge of GMP, SOPs, batch manufacturing records, and in-process controls. Experience: working in a regulated pharmaceutical production environment is an advantage. Technical Skills: Basic mechanical troubleshooting. In-process quality monitoring and weight checks. GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing procedures. Good Documentation Practices. Ability to interpret SOPs, batch records, and equipment operating instructions. Equipment cleaning and changeover procedures. Capsule filling machine operation and setup. Basic computer literacy and production-record documentation. Personal Attributes: High attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong understanding of quality and compliance requirements. Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets. Reliable, disciplined, and safety-conscious. Strong problem-solving ability.
