We are seeking an experienced and proactive Machinery and Equipment Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of our machinery and heavy equipment fleet. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, robust leadership skills, and a strategic approach to preventive maintenance and asset management. In this role, you will ensure maximum equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and operator safety across all jobsites and facilities. Responsibilities: Fleet and Asset Management: Manage inventory, spare parts procurement, and relationships with equipment vendors, manufacturers, and rental agencies. Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespans. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of all machinery, heavy equipment, tools, and vehicles. Track equipment location, assignment, utilization rates, and operational readiness across project sites. Operations and Maintenance: Diagnose mechanical issues, schedule repairs, and oversee in-house technicians and third-party service contractors. Maintain complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, warranties, and service histories using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Respond promptly to field breakdowns and manage emergency repair protocols to prevent project delays. Budgeting and Cost Control: Perform repair-vs-replace analyses and recommend equipment acquisitions, disposals, or lease agreements. Monitor fuel consumption, repair costs, and total cost of ownership (TCO) for each asset class. Manage the equipment budget, tracking operational expenditures (OpEx) and capital expenditures (CapEx). Safety, Compliance and Quality: Coordinate mandatory inspections, certifications, and registrations for all heavy machinery and fleet vehicles. Ensure all equipment meets local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA regulations). Collaborate with Safety Officers to establish safe operating procedures and deliver equipment safety training to operators. Operations and Team Leadership: Standardize Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train operators on proper machine usage, minor inspection protocols, and safety compliance. Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and equipment operators. Utilize telematics, GPS, and IoT tracking software to monitor machine usage, idle times, fuel efficiency, and location data. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on leadership experience). Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, electrical systems etc. Minimum 2–3 years supervising service technicians, mechanics, or operators. 8+ years of progressive experience: in machinery/fleet management, industrial maintenance, or field operations. Skilled at reading technicals, troubleshooting unexpected mechanical failures, and reading usage trends.
