We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Account Officer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The role supports the Finance Department in safeguarding company assets, ensuring financial integrity, facilitating management decision-making, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including those of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Financial Reporting Council (FRC), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), AML/CFT regulations, Nigerian tax laws, and internal company policies and procedures. The Account Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, processing financial transactions, supporting treasury and lending operations, preparing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and maintaining effective internal controls. Key Responsibilities: Financial Accounting & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger records. Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records. Prepare monthly schedules and reconciliations. Process journals and accounting adjustments. Monitor income and expense accounts. Maintain fixed asset registers and accounting documentation. Record daily accounting transactions. Support month-end and year-end financial close processes. Treasury & Cash Management: Maintain cash flow schedules and treasury records. Prepare bank reconciliations promptly and accurately. Monitor fixed deposits, investment placements and maturities. Process approved fund transfers in line with company policies. Support treasury operations and liquidity management activities. Monitor daily cash positions and liquidity requirements. Loan Accounting & Credit Administration Support: Maintain records of classified facilities. Monitor overdue accounts and support recovery tracking. Maintain loan schedules and portfolio records. Reconcile loan balances regularly. Track accrued interest and loan performance. Record loan disbursements and repayments accurately Support loan provisioning calculations. Prepare periodic portfolio performance reports. Financial Reporting: Prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting. Assist in the preparation of management accounts. Assist with IFRS disclosure requirements. Generate periodic financial reports and analyses. Support annual financial statement preparation. Perform variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance. Support budgeting and forecasting exercises. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance documentation and filing schedules. Monitor compliance deadlines and support adherence to regulatory requirements. Maintain regulatory and compliance records. Support prudential reporting requirements. Assist with AML/CFT reporting obligations. Monitor Support the preparation and submission of CBN returns. Tax Administration: Assist during tax audits and regulatory reviews. Support VAT, WHT and PAYE filings. Maintain tax records and statutory filing documentation. Support pension remittance processes. Prepare tax schedules and supporting documentation. Work Experience: & Qualifications Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN or equivalent) will be an added advantage. Working knowledge of IFRS, tax administration and regulatory reporting requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Prior experience: within a financial institution, lending company or fintech environment will be an added advantage. Experience: preparing management reports and financial schedules. Practical experience: in financial accounting, reconciliations, treasury operations and financial reporting. Minimum of 2-4 years experience: in Accounting, Finance, Treasury Operations, Financial Services, Fintech, Lending or a similar regulated environment. Experience: supporting loan accounting and credit administration activities. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
