Purpose of the Role The ME Network Manager is responsible for leading Frogfoot's Metro Ethernet (ME) Network function, ensuring a highly available, scalable, and resilient carrier-grade network that supports the organisation's strategic objectives. This role combines technical leadership with people leadership, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, network automation, capacity planning, and service reliability. Working closely with Executive Leadership and Engineering Management, you'll ensure the network evolves to meet business growth while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational performance. What You'll Be Responsible For Leadership & People Management Lead, mentor and develop the Metro Ethernet Engineering team. Build a high-performing, collaborative and customer-focused team culture. Ensure the team has the appropriate skills, capacity and succession plans to support business growth. Conduct regular coaching, performance management and development conversations. Foster continuous learning and technical excellence. Network Operations Oversee the availability, stability and performance of Frogfoot's Metro Ethernet network. Ensure proactive monitoring and management processes are in place to minimise outages and service interruptions. Provide technical oversight and guidance for network incident management and major fault restoration activities. Ensure customer SLAs are consistently achieved. Network Strategy & Engineering Develop and implement network strategies aligned with business objectives. Lead network capacity planning and infrastructure growth. Ensure network upgrades, changes and expansions are correctly designed, reviewed and implemented. Drive network standardisation and best practice across all engineering activities. Service Delivery & Operational Excellence Ensure network provisioning and orchestration processes are efficient and scalable. Develop and improve operational processes, policies and technical standards. Ensure monitoring, alerting and reporting tools continuously evolve to support proactive operations. Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. Governance, Risk & Compliance Ensure robust change management processes are followed. Develop proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies. Ensure accurate network documentation, standards and technical specifications are maintained. Ensure accurate records and audits of critical technology stock are maintained to support network growth and strategic business objectives. Monitor compliance with operational policies and engineering standards. Vendor & Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners. Manage vendor performance and service delivery. Engage with enterprise customers during technical escalations. Work closely with Executive Leadership, Engineering Management, NOC and Service Delivery teams to achieve business objectives. Reporting & Performance Develop meaningful operational dashboards and KPI reporting. Analyse network trends and recommend improvement initiatives. Monitor operational costs and productivity against industry benchmarks. Present performance reports and recommendations to senior leadership. What You’ll Need to Have Qualifications Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology or a related field. Management qualification or Leadership Certification will be advantageous. Project Management certification (Prince2, PMBOK or equivalent) is advantageous. Experience: 7–10 years' experience: within a Fibre, ISP or Telecommunications environment. Extensive experience: managing carrier-grade Metro Ethernet networks. Proven leadership experience: managing or supervising engineering or operational teams. Strong experience: in customer service and operational management. Experience: leading technical projects and organisational change. Technical Knowledge You'll have extensive knowledge of: Optical and transmission networking. Packet-switched networks.
