The Chief Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, general ledger integrity, reconciliations, fixed assets, and transaction controls across the group. Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate balance sheet schedules, working papers, and audit trails. Support Internal Control reviews and ensure timely resolution of accounting-related findings. Support month-end close by preparing trial balance schedules, journal packs, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Strengthen accounting processes, documentation, controls, and posting discipline. Oversee accounting entries for sales, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and journals, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation. Manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation. Ensure proper revenue and expense cut-offs in coordination with AR, AP, and business units. Work with Tech/Data to improve automation, reduce manual errors, and resolve system-related accounting issues. Execute and supervise ke bank, clearing account, payment gateway, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items. Maintain general ledger integrity, including accurate coding, timely postings, and resolution of suspense items. Requirements: & Qualifications 10+ years’ experience: in accounting operations, including journals, reconciliations, and general ledger management. Experience: in retail, e-commerce, distribution, or other high-volume environmentsis an advantage. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Strong attention to detail, organisation, ownership, and ability to work under pressure. Experience: with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheets, payment gateways, and POS reconciliations. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent strongly preferred; part-qualified candidates may be considered based on experience. Strong knowledge ofaccruals, prepayments, cut-offs, fixed assets, and financial controls. High level of confidentiality, documentation discipline, and audit readiness. Working Conditions: Peak workload occurs duringmonth-end close and audit periods. Full-time hybrid role with occasional travel.
