Job Title: Outreach and Field Program Manager Location: Northern Nigeria Employment Type: Contract Work Arrangement: Field-based, with frequent travel Job Summary The Outreach and Field Program Manager will lead Solardero Foundation’s community outreach, distribution and impact-monitoring activities across Northern Nigeria. The successful candidate will help identify underserved schools, women’s groups and communities; build relationships with local stakeholders; coordinate product distributions; and monitor how beneficiaries use and benefit from the Foundation’s interventions. This is a highly field-based position. The candidate must be willing and able to travel regularly to off-grid, rural and hard-to-reach communities, including areas with difficult terrain and limited infrastructure. All travel will be subject to appropriate safety and security assessments. Key Responsibilities: Identify underserved schools, women’s groups and communities that may benefit from the Foundation’s programmes. Conduct community needs assessments and recommend suitable communities and beneficiaries for support. Build respectful relationships with traditional and community leaders, school administrators, teachers, women’s groups, local organisations and government representatives. Plan and coordinate the distribution of solar school bags, solar STEM kits and toys, solar cooking solutions and other Foundation-supported products. Register and verify beneficiaries to ensure that products reach the intended individuals, schools and communities. Demonstrate products and provide beneficiaries with clear guidance on their proper use, care and maintenance. Conduct follow-up visits to monitor product usage, functionality, beneficiary satisfaction and programme outcomes. Track relevant results, including changes in study hours, homework completion, school participation, product usage and benefits: experienced by women and families. Gather beneficiary feedback, stories, photographs, videos and testimonials with appropriate consent. Maintain accurate beneficiary, distribution, inventory and monitoring records. Prepare clear and timely field reports, programme updates and recommendations. Receive feedback or complaints from beneficiaries and support the Foundation in resolving them appropriately. Help identify potential partnerships with schools, community organisations, local authorities and other stakeholders. Ensure that all activities respect local cultures, religious differences, beneficiary dignity and safeguarding requirements. Follow approved safety and security procedures during field activities and travel. Represent Solardero Foundation professionally during community meetings, school visits, distributions and public engagements. Perform other programme and outreach duties assigned by the Foundation. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, Project Management, Environmental Studies, Renewable Energy or another relevant field. Candidates with substantial relevant community experience: may also be considered. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience: in community outreach, rural development, programme implementation, field operations, monitoring and evaluation or humanitarian work. Must currently reside in Northern Nigeria and have a strong understanding of the region. Fluency in spoken Hausa is required. Good written and spoken English. Ability to speak one or more additional languages used in Northern Nigeria is an advantage. Demonstrated experience: working with rural, underserved, minority or hard-to-reach communities. Strong understanding of the cultural and religious sensitivities of communities in Northern Nigeria. Ability to work respectfully with people from different ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. Willingness and physical ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel to remote locations. Experience: conducting interviews, surveys, beneficiary registration or field data collection. Ability to use a smartphone for photographs, videos, GPS coordinates and digital data collection. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Forms. Strong planning, communication, organisation and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently, solve problems in the field and manage multiple activities. High standards of honesty, accountability, confidentiality and respect for beneficiary dignity. A valid driver’s licence and experience: travelling within Northern Nigeria would be an advantage. Existing relationships with schools, community groups, traditional leaders, women’s groups or local organisations in Northern Nigeria would be an advantage. The individual should be comfortable listening to community members, working across different cultures and beliefs, adapting to challenging field conditions and spending significant time outside a traditional office environment.
