The role combines hands-on engineering with continuous monitoring, incident support, and improvement of security architecture across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The Network Security Engineer designs, implements, and maintains controls that protect the organization’s network infrastructure, systems, and data. Responsibilities: Contribute to security awareness, incident-response exercises, disaster-recovery planning, and continuous improvement of the security program. Design, deploy, configure, and maintain network-security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, secure web gateways, intrusion detection/prevention systems, network access control, and security monitoring tools. Monitor network activity and security alerts; investigate anomalies, assess impact, and coordinate containment and recovery actions during security incidents. Partner with IT, cloud, endpoint, and application teams to embed security requirements: into new systems, changes, and projects. Develop and maintain secure network architectures, segmentation standards, access-control policies, and configuration baselines for wired, wireless, cloud, and remote-access environments. Conduct vulnerability assessments, configuration reviews, and periodic security testing; prioritize remediation with infrastructure and application teams. Review firewall rules, privileged network access, and third-party connectivity to ensure least-privilege access and policy compliance. Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational procedures, and evidence needed for audits, risk reviews, and compliance activities. Deploy and maintain virtual private servers for the organization. Requirements: Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and prioritization skills. Hands-on experience: administering enterprise firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, routing and switching, and network security monitoring. 3+ years of experience: in network engineering, network security, cybersecurity operations, or a closely related role. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TLS, proxies, wireless security, identity and access management, and common attack techniques. Experience: with cloud-network security in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Familiarity with zero-trust principles, secure access service edge (SASE), network automation, infrastructure as code, or scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash. First Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience: may be considered. Ability to translate risk and technical findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Hands-on experience: administering and managing virtual private servers.
