We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Procurement Manager Location: Plateau Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all procurement activities to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and uninterrupted acquisition of solid minerals, equipment, spare parts, diesel, operational materials, and services required to support the Company's mining and mineral processing operations. The Procurement Manager will develop strategic supplier relationships with miners, cooperatives, aggregators, mineral dealers, and service providers while ensuring supplier performance, contract compliance, cost optimization, and adherence to Company procurement policies and regulatory requirements. The role requires proven experience: in the procurement, sourcing, evaluation, and purchasing of solid minerals, particularly tin ore (cassiterite), monazite, wolframite, columbite, tantalite, lithium-bearing minerals, and other related mineral ores. The role also leads procurement process improvements and supports strategic sourcing initiatives that contribute to operational efficiency and business growth. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement & Mineral Sourcing Conduct supplier due diligence and evaluate mineral suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and production capacity. Lead the sourcing and procurement of solid minerals, including tin ore (cassiterite), monazite, wolframite, columbite, tantalite, lithium-bearing minerals, and other related mineral ores. Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives and operational requirements. Support mineral sourcing strategies that ensure continuous availability of quality feedstock for the Company's processing plants. Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and maintain relationships with miners, cooperatives, aggregators, mineral dealers, suppliers, and contractors. Operational Procurement: Oversee the procurement of equipment, spare parts, diesel, operational materials, and services. Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials required to support uninterrupted operations. Work closely with production, laboratory, and operations teams to ensure procured minerals meet required quality specifications. Coordinate inventory planning and procurement activities to optimize stock levels and reduce shortages. Supplier & Contract Management: Resolve supplier performance issues and implement corrective actions where necessary. Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and supplier agreements in line with Company policies and approved budgets. Maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers while identifying alternative sourcing opportunities. Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, reliability, compliance, and value for money. Cost Control & Procurement Optimization: Identify opportunities for procurement process improvements and operational efficiencies. Ensure optimal utilization of procurement budgets and resources. Monitor procurement expenditure and implement cost-saving initiatives. Analyse market trends, mineral prices, and supplier pricing to support purchasing decisions. Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain accurate procurement documentation, supplier records, contracts, and purchase histories. Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and supplier dependency. Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable mining and environmental regulations. Ensure compliance with Company procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical procurement practices. Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Production, Legal, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to ensure effective procurement planning and execution. Prepare procurement reports and present key procurement metrics to Management. Supervise, mentor, and develop procurement personnel. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Timely procurement and delivery of operational requirements. Achievement of mineral procurement targets. Inventory availability and reduction of stock shortages. Supplier performance and contract compliance. Availability of quality mineral feedstock for production. Compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Cost savings achieved through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations. Effectiveness of procurement process improvement initiatives. Accuracy and completeness of procurement records and reports. Requirements: Education: A Master's Degree or relevant professional certification (CIPS, CPSM, PMP, or equivalent) will be an added advantage. Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Mining Engineering, Geology, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline. Experience: 5–7 years' experience: in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management within the solid minerals, mining, mineral processing, or mineral trading industry. Demonstrated experience: implementing cost-saving initiatives and procurement process improvements. Proven experience: in supplier management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing. Demonstrable experience: sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and purchasing solid minerals such as tin ore (cassiterite), monazite, wolframite, columbite, tantalite, lithium-bearing minerals, and other related mineral ores. Proven experience: working directly with miners, cooperatives, aggregators, mineral dealers, or mineral suppliers. Strong understanding of procurement processes, inventory management, and supply chain operations. Knowledge & Technical Skills: Knowledge of procurement regulations, contract management, and inventory control. Strong analytical, reporting, and data interpretation skills. Knowledge of the characteristics and market value of cassiterite (tin ore), monazite, wolframite, columbite, tantalite, lithium-bearing minerals, and other related mineral ores. Strong knowledge of solid mineral procurement and supply chain operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and procurement management software. Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. Practical understanding of mineral grading, sampling, quality assessment, pricing, and commercial evaluation.
