The Water Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the water treatment plant and purified water distribution systems (RO, EDI, DM, and Softener plants) to ensure a continuous supply of treated, purified, and WFI-grade (Water for Injection) water that complies with pharmaceutical and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: System Operations & Monitoring: Operate reverse osmosis (RO), demineralization (DM), water softeners, filtration, and storage distribution loops. Monitor operational parameters including pH, conductivity, TDS, hardness, flow rates, and differential pressures. Routine Servicing & Equipment Maintenance: Inspect pumps, dosing units, piping, valves, and instruments. Identify minor mechanical or chemical issues early, carry out minor repairs, and report complex equipment faults to the engineering team. Chemical Dosing & Regeneration: Safely handle, prepare, and dose water treatment chemicals. Conduct resin regeneration cycles, filter backwashing, and clean-in-place (CIP) procedures as scheduled. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS): Ensure clean and safe work conditions in the water treatment area. Handle water treatment chemicals following strict safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines. Water Quality Sampling & Testing: Perform routine quality tests on raw water, purified water, and boiler feed water. Log parameter values hourly to maintain strict compliance with quality guidelines. Documentation & Logs: Maintain detailed operational logbooks, water production records, chemical consumption charts, and equipment maintenance sheets in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Job Requirements: & Qualifications Experience: 2 – 3 years of operational experience: in water treatment plants within pharmaceutical, food, or beverage manufacturing environments. Education: OND / HND or Technical / Vocational Certificate in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology, or related disciplines. Competencies: Strong attention to detail, proactive troubleshooting ability, and willingness to work flexible or shift hours. Technical Skills: Sound working knowledge of RO, EDI, softeners, and DM plants; familiarity with water chemistry and standard water testing equipment.
