We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Settlement and Liquidity Officer Location : Lagos Job Summary The Settlement and Liquidity Officer is responsible for managing daily settlement processes across multiple accounts and ensuring optimal liquidity positioning to meet the firm's funding and payment obligations. Operating within a lean, high-output Treasury function, the role requires a self-sufficient professional who can work with minimal supervision, manage relationships across internal and external stakeholders, and contribute meaningfully to the team's income and cost efficiency objectives from day one. Key Responsibilities: Settlement Operations: Proactively monitor and resolve pending or failed settlements, escalating where necessary Coordinate end-to-end settlement of funds across major accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Ensure correct capture and instruction of trade data into settlement systems Own end-of-day reconciliations and produce clear, accurate settlement reports Collaborate with counterparties, Operations and IT to investigate and resolve settlement failures Liquidity Management: Optimise the use of internal and external liquidity lines to minimise idle balances and avoid overdrafts Monitor and forecast daily cash positions across accounts, identifying risks and opportunities proactively Provide structured input on short-term investment and funding strategies to the Treasury Lead Coordinate intra-day liquidity to meet funding and settlement obligations without operational disruption Operational Collaboration: Serve as the Treasury function's primary interface with Operations, reducing information asymmetry on liquidity-impacting actions Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the settlement and liquidity framework. Support reconciliation between treasury positions and finance ledger entries Qualifications Strong working knowledge of financial instruments and clearing/settlement cycles Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field 2–3 years of experience: in settlement operations, treasury or liquidity management Advanced Excel proficiency; working knowledge of treasury systems (Calypso, Finacle or equivalent) required at this level. Hands-on familiarity with NIBBS, RTGS, NEFT, switching processes and settlement platforms Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a track record of independent execution High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment Clear and structured communicator across Operations, Finance and external counterparties Comfortable managing multiple priorities under pressure with minimal supervision.
