BCHS is conceived to identify Diagnostics and Clinical needs through innovative diagnostic medical practices which includes Imaging, Pathology, specialty clinics (Eye, Dental, Physiotherapy, Endoscopy and Dialysis), as well as other tailored packages. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Radiologist Location: Agungi Lekki, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Reports to: Managing Director (MD) Summary Radiologists are physicians who are trained in executing and interpreting medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, Ultrasounds and MRI’s. They use their findings to diagnose illnesses and, in some cases, treat patients using medical radiation. Essential Function of the job Clinical: Provide advice on types and quantities of Radiology equipment needed to maintain facilities. Interpret images using computer aided detection or diagnosis systems. Prepare a comprehensive interpretation report of findings. Confer with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses. Obtain patients histories from electronic records, patients’ interviews, dedicated reports or by communicating with referring clinicians. Perform or interpret the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Computer Tomography, (CT), Mammography or Ultrasound. Document the performance, interpretation or outcomes of all procedures performed. Instruct Radiologist staffs in desired techniques, positions or projections. Conducts physical examinations to inform decisions about appropriate procedures. Participate in continuing education: activities to maintain and develop Radiology staffs. Perform intervention procedures such as image- guided biopsy, percutaneous transmittal angioplasty, trans-hepatic biliary drainage, and nephropathy catheter placement. Administer or maintain conscious sedation during and after procedures. Supervise Intern Radiographers, nurses and Radiology Staffs. Schedule examinations and assign Radiology Personnel. Implement protocols in areas such as drugs, resuscitation, emergencies and infection control. Evaluate medical information to determine patients risk factors, such as allergies to contrast agents, or to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures. Review or transmit images and information using picture archiving or communications systems. Establish or enforce standards for protection of patients and personnel. Participate in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error in high. There will be 25percent commission on all intervention procedures. Communicate examinations results or diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients or families. Recognize or treat complications during and after procedures, including blood pressure problems, pains, over sedation and bleeding. Provide Counseling to radio-logic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits: or alternative benefits. Develop or monitor procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images. Coordinate radio logical services with other medical activities. Managerial: Hazardous to health (COSHH) regulations, fire regulations, infection control and clinical. Must be able to delegate appropriately and supervise Health Care Support Workers to achieve the desired quality of patient care. Must be able to comply and contribute to implementation of departmental and professional policies and procedures such as: Professional code of conduct. Must be able to participate in ongoing departmental audit and quality assurance programs, which may lead to proposals of change to current working practices. Health and Safety including risk assessment and control of substances. Divisional policies regarding NO SMOKING Policy, Grievance procedure and Disciplinary Procedures. Quality Assurance Programs. Effectiveness moving and handling of training and cardiac pulmonary resuscitation training updates. The Radiologist must be able to exercise a personal sense of responsibility and make decisions in complex and difficulty circumstances Imaging in A/E theatre during a multiple trauma situation. Educational: Perform other duties as assigned. Keeping up to date in new image techniques, technology and departmental policies. Must be able to participate in mandatory training and actively pursue a continuous professional development program and keeping an up-to-date personal record of these programs. Qualifications Demonstrate passion and empathy. A medical degree and completion of the Medical Licensing Examinations. Great interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate and legible patient records. IT skills and information governance awareness. Membership or Fellowship or Board Certification in Radiology (Certification in Radiology (with or without sub speciality like MRI, CT scan, etc. Good Time – management skills.
