We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Collection Specialist Location: Kano The Program This program equips young women in rural areas throughout sub-Saharan Africa with access to finance and entrepreneurial support, in collaboration with local Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESOs). The Role Seedstars is hiring Collection Specialists to support loan repayment and portfolio quality for entrepreneurs financed under the P2S program. This is a central collection role — not door-to-door recovery. Contract duration aligned with the P2S program. Collection Specialists report to the country Loan and Portfolio Lead and work day-to-day with Loan Officers, Coaches, and ESOs. Loan Collectors combine phone-based follow-up with targeted field verification, working closely with Loan Officers, coaches, and Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) to keep repayments on track and validate the information that drives the loan collection process. Key Responsibilities: Collections & Repayment Follow-up: Work with ESOs and coaches to drive timely repayments across their cohorts. Conduct high-volume phone call follow-ups with borrowers based on loan due dates, following digital messaging (SMS/WhatsApp) touchpoints. Support repayment monitoring for direct borrowers (non-ESO entrepreneurs), including bank account linkage and direct debit mandate follow-up. Field Verification & Spot Checks: Conduct field visits to confirm entrepreneurs are present and operating at their registered locations; perform spot checks and support address verification. Validate crop deliveries, yields, and repayment amounts using the Scribe application (dedicated loan collector role), enabling validated deliveries to automatically reduce outstanding loan balances. Aggregator & Off-taker Verification: Serve as the dedicated point of contact for assigned major aggregators (e.g., Trade Bazaar, Aluvial, Value Seeds), ensuring reliable information flow. Verify that off-taker payments are routed to the correct designated FCMB accounts as specified in off-take agreements, and confirm payment details have been communicated to off-takers. Underwriting & Program Support: Provide underwriting support for upcoming cohorts, including data collection on farmers and aggregators across the value chain via Scribe. Assist entrepreneurs with the loan application process and support Loan Officers as needed. Qualifications Required: High integrity and professionalism; collections are conducted respectfully and in full compliance with local regulations. Strong phone-based communication and negotiation skills; comfortable with a high daily call volume. Experience: in loan collection, credit recovery, microfinance, or agri-finance operations. Fluency in English and relevant local language(s) of the assigned location. Comfortable using mobile applications for field data collection and validation. Willingness to travel within the assigned region for field visits and spot checks (travel reimbursed as individual expenses).
