Finance Officer Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 5 years Location Lagos Job Field Finance / Accounting / Audit Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Officer with deep knowledge of the Nigerian tax system and strong financial management expertise. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving the company’s financial health, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth. This role requires someone willing to go above and beyond, take ownership, and grow with the company. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards. Prepare Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and conduct detailed financial analysis. Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimal use of company funds. Conduct quarterly financial assessments and present insights to management. Budgeting & Planning Develop, review, and manage company budgets. Track budget performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations. Support strategic planning through financial forecasting and modeling. Taxation & Compliance Ensure full compliance with all Federal and State tax regulations in Nigeria (including CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.). Prepare and file tax returns accurately and in a timely manner. Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors when required. Stay up to date with changes in Nigerian tax laws and advise management accordingly. Receivables & Cash Collection Actively follow up on company receivables to ensure timely collections. Implement and enforce effective credit control and receivables management processes. Payroll & Operational Finance Prepare and manage payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory deductions. Oversee all finance-related operations, including expense control and payment processing. Support departments with financial guidance and cost optimization. Advisory & Leadership Provide expert financial advice to management to support decision-making. Identify financial risks and opportunities and propose mitigation or growth strategies. Support the company in scaling financial processes as the business grows. Work closely with external consultants, auditors, and financial institutions. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience: in finance or accounting roles. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Strong and proven experience: with the Nigerian tax system. Experience: working within the engineering or technical services industry is advantageous Experience: working in a growing or fast-paced company is a strong advantage. Skills & Competencies Strong financial reporting and analytical skills. Excellent knowledge of cash flow management and budgeting. Close attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the finance function. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
