We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Accounts Officer – Accounts Payable & Claims Location: Lagos Job Purpose The Accounts Officer – Accounts Payable & Claims is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, employee expense claims, and other financial obligations while maintaining compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities: Verify invoices and claims against supporting documents, purchase orders, and approved budgets. Maintain proper documentation and filing of payment vouchers and financial records. Ensure timely settlement of vendor payments and employee reimbursements. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly. Support month-end and year-end closing activities by reconciling payable accounts. Liaise with internal departments and vendors to resolve payment-related issues. Ensure compliance with company financial policies, statutory regulations, and internal controls. Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager. Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable and claims processes. Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and supporting documentation. Process supplier invoices, employee expense claims, and payment requests accurately and on time. Monitor outstanding payables and prepare periodic Accounts Payable aging reports. Assist in audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations. Prepare payment schedules in line with approved payment terms. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy of payment processing. Resolution time for invoice and claims discrepancies. Number of overdue supplier payments. Accuracy of supplier reconciliations. Compliance with internal controls and financial policies. Timeliness of invoice processing. Timeliness of month-end closing activities. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Experience: in an FMCG or manufacturing environment is an added advantage. 2–4 years' experience: in Accounts Payable, Claims, or a similar finance role. Working knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) is desirable. ICAN/ACCA qualification or progress towards certification is an added advantage. Knowledge & Skills: ERP system knowledge. Financial reconciliation and reporting. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Microsoft Excel proficiency.
