Read more about this company Cashier Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 1 - 5 years Location Lagos Job Field Customer Care, Success and Service Salary Range ₦150,000 - ₦200,000/month Job Summary The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing all customer payments and financial transactions at the filling station while maintaining excellent customer service and strict accountability for cash received. The role involves receiving payments for fuel, lubricants and other products or services sold at the station, issuing receipts, maintaining accurate transaction records, reconciling daily sales and cash collections, and ensuring that all funds are properly accounted for and handed over in accordance with company procedures. The Cashier reports directly to the Station Manager and is expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, professionalism and financial accountability. Key Responsibilities: Cash Handling & Payment Processing Receive and process payments from customers for fuel, lubricants and other products sold at the station. Process cash, POS/card, bank transfer and other approved payment methods accurately. Verify payments before confirming transactions or releasing goods/services where applicable. Provide customers with accurate receipts and appropriate change. Maintain strict accountability for all cash and payment transactions handled during each shift. Ensure personal funds are never mixed with company funds. Daily Sales Reconciliation Reconcile cash collected against sales records, POS transactions, transfers and other payment records at the end of each shift. Ensure that total collections correspond with recorded sales. Prepare accurate daily/shift cashier reports. Immediately report shortages, overages, payment discrepancies or suspicious transactions to the Station Manager. Properly hand over cash, transaction records and supporting documents at the end of each shift. Transaction Recording & Documentation Maintain accurate and complete records of all transactions. Ensure receipts, POS slips, transfer confirmations and other transaction documents are properly maintained. Follow established procedures for cancelled, reversed, failed or disputed transactions. Assist with maintaining financial records required for daily, weekly and monthly station reconciliation. Ensure transaction information is entered correctly into the station\'s approved system or register. Customer Service Attend to customers courteously, promptly and professionally. Respond appropriately to customer enquiries relating to payments, receipts and transactions. Escalate customer complaints or transaction disputes to the Station Manager where necessary. Maintain a professional attitude even when handling difficult customers or payment disputes. Help create a positive and efficient customer experience: at the station. Cash & Financial Control Safeguard cash and other financial instruments under the Cashier\'s custody. Follow all company cash-handling, banking and financial-control procedures. Never approve unauthorized discounts, refunds, credits or transaction adjustments. Maintain confidentiality regarding company sales, revenue and other financial information. Immediately report suspected fraud, theft, counterfeit currency or other irregularities. Cooperate fully with internal audits, cash counts and financial reviews. POS & Payment Terminal Management Operate POS terminals and other approved payment systems correctly. Confirm successful POS transactions before treating payments as completed. Monitor failed or reversed transactions and escalate unresolved issues. Keep POS terminals and related equipment secure. Report malfunctioning payment equipment or connectivity problems promptly. Shift Handover Complete all required reconciliation before handing over to another cashier. Clearly document outstanding transactions or unresolved discrepancies. Ensure cash, receipts and transaction records are properly transferred and acknowledged. Never leave the cashier position unattended without following the approved handover procedure. Compliance, Safety & Station Procedures Comply with all company policies, operational procedures and financial-control requirements. Observe filling-station safety procedures and applicable health and safety requirements. Maintain a clean, organized and secure cashier/work area. Participate in staff meetings, training programmes and operational briefings. Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Station Manager. Location: Along Ilesha Ibadan Exp.
