Job Position: Accountant Job Location: Owerri, Imo Employment Type: Full-time Job Role We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and results-driven Accountant to join our Consulting Associate Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, monitoring transactions, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate should have strong numerical and analytical skills, a high level of integrity, good attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments. Job Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions. Prepare and review journals, ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Prepare periodic financial reports, management reports, and relevant financial statements. Perform bank, cash, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations. Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely processing of transactions. Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Review invoices, payment requests, expenses, and other financial documentation for accuracy and completeness. Monitor cash flow and support effective working capital management. Assist with payroll-related accounting activities and statutory deductions where applicable. Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting records for audit and compliance purposes. Support internal and external audit processes by providing required schedules, documents, and explanations. Monitor financial controls and identify discrepancies, irregularities, or potential risks. Investigate accounting variances and resolve discrepancies promptly. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, company policies, and regulatory obligations. Provide financial information and analysis to support management decision-making. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and efficiency. Perform other accounting and financial duties as may be assigned. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, depending on level of responsibility. Professional qualification or ongoing membership of ICAN, ACCA, or another recognized accounting body is an advantage. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism. Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
