We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Investment Analyst – IFC/DFI Experience: Location: Lagos (Hybrid) Employment Type: Contract Position Summary The successful candidate will join Awari Homes as an Investment Analyst–Consultant, supporting the company’s fundraising, investment structuring, financial planning, project assessment, and engagement with IFC and other development finance institutions. The role requires strong financial knowledge, excellent analytical ability, and a clear understanding of IFC and DFI investment requirements, including environmental, social, governance, sustainability, and development-impact standards. The Investment Analyst will conduct detailed financial and commercial analyses, perform comprehensive due diligence, develop financial models, prepare investment proposals, and assist the company in presenting bankable real estate and property technology projects to potential investors and financial institutions. Duties and Accountabilities The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Investment Analysis and Financial Modelling: Conduct rigorous financial, commercial, economic, and investment analyses for proposed and existing projects. Develop detailed financial models, including profit and loss projections, cash-flow forecasts, balance sheets, funding requirements, debt-service capacity, and investor returns. Evaluate project profitability using indicators such as Internal Rate of Return, Net Present Value, Return on Investment, and Debt Service Coverage Ratio. Identify major financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies. Perform sensitivity, scenario, stress-testing, and break-even analyses. Carry out valuation analysis using appropriate methods, including discounted cash flow, comparable-company analysis, precedent transactions, and asset-based valuation. IFC and DFI Proposal Preparation: Review all financial and supporting information before submission to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Prepare professional investment proposals, concept notes, information memoranda, business plans, pitch decks, and funding applications for submission to IFC and other DFIs. Ensure proposals address the relevant institution’s eligibility requirements, investment criteria, development objectives, and reporting expectations. Translate Awari Homes’ business model and proposed projects into clear, credible, and bankable investment opportunities. Support the preparation of responses to questions, information requests, and due-diligence requirements: from potential investors and lenders. Clearly present the project’s financial viability, market opportunity, management capacity, social impact, environmental sustainability, governance structure, and risk-mitigation measures. Due Diligence: Prepare due-diligence reports and present clear recommendations to management. Review company records, audited accounts, management accounts, contracts, property documents, licences, valuations, and supporting transaction documents. Coordinate with legal advisers, accountants, property valuers, engineers, consultants, and other professionals involved in the due-diligence process. Identify potential risks, weaknesses, compliance issues, and information gaps that may affect investment decisions. Conduct comprehensive financial, commercial, operational, legal, market, environmental, social, and governance due diligence. Market and Sector Research: Prepare market reports and investment insights to support management decisions. Conduct detailed research on the real estate, housing, hospitality, short-let, rental, property technology, and construction markets. Monitor investment trends and funding programmes offered by IFC, DFIs, impact investors, private equity firms, and institutional investors. Analyse market size, demand, pricing, competitors, customer segments, regulations, and emerging opportunities. Evaluate economic, political, regulatory, and industry developments that may affect Awari Homes’ operations and investments. Transaction Structuring and Fundraising: Support management during investor meetings, presentations, negotiations, and project appraisals. Maintain organised records of investor discussions, funding applications, due-diligence documents, and transaction progress. Assist in structuring appropriate debt, equity, blended-finance, guarantee, and public-private partnership arrangements. Analyse different funding options and recommend suitable capital structures for individual projects. Support negotiations with IFC, DFIs, commercial banks, private investors, and strategic partners. Prepare term-sheet analyses and assess proposed pricing, security, repayment, covenant, and return conditions. Environmental, Social and Governance Compliance: Support the alignment of projects with applicable IFC Performance Standards and relevant environmental and social requirements. Assist in identifying environmental, social, labour, community, health, safety, and governance risks. Help establish measurable development-impact indicators, including employment creation, affordable housing, economic inclusion, and community benefits. Monitor compliance with investment conditions and agreed environmental, social, governance, and sustainability targets. Work with relevant professionals to prepare Environmental and Social Management Plans where required. Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain accurate financial information and support investor and lender reporting requirements. Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior management and the Board when required. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual investment-performance reports. Identify underperforming investments and recommend corrective actions. Compare actual performance with budgets, forecasts, investment conditions, and agreed key performance indicators. Monitor the financial and operational performance of approved projects and investments. Required Qualifications Candidates should possess: Strong knowledge of investment analysis, corporate finance, project finance, financial modelling, valuation, and risk assessment. Excellent written and spoken English. A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Investment Management, Real Estate Finance, or a related discipline. Relevant professional qualifications such as CFA, ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA, or an equivalent certification will be highly regarded. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and financial-modelling tools. A Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Development Finance, or a related field will be an advantage. Practical knowledge of IFC or DFI investment procedures, due-diligence standards, proposal requirements, and approval processes. Required Professional Experience: Previous experience: working directly with, consulting for, or preparing funding proposals for IFC or another recognised DFI is strongly preferred. Evidence of participation in successful fundraising, investment, or financing transactions is desirable. Experience: in real estate, housing, hospitality, construction, infrastructure, or property technology will be an added advantage. Experience: conducting financial, commercial, operational, and ESG due diligence. A minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience: in investment analysis, project finance, development finance, private equity, infrastructure finance, real estate finance, investment banking, or corporate finance. Demonstrated experience: developing complex financial models and preparing investment proposals.
