We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Hospital Matron Location: Ibadan, Ososami Area- Oyo Employment Type: Full-time Department: Clinical / Hospital Administration Summary We are looking for a well-trained and duly licensed Registered Nurse with proven leadership experience: in both clinical practice and hospital administration, capable of maintaining high standards of patient care, professional discipline, staff performance, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the activities and performance of nursing and clinical staff. Support Management in developing and implementing policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and operational strategies. Ensure high standards of patient care, nursing practice, professionalism, and patient safety across the facility. Identify gaps in clinical practice and coordinate appropriate staff training, mentoring, coaching, and professional development. Ensure proper documentation, nursing reports, patient records, handover procedures, and clinical communication. Work closely with Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Client Care, and Administrative Teams to ensure effective patient care delivery. Conduct regular clinical supervision, ward rounds, and quality checks to ensure compliance with established standards. Provide effective clinical leadership and administrative supervision across nursing and other clinical support services. Coordinate staff duty rosters, shift schedules, leave arrangements, and appropriate manpower deployment. Provide leadership in infection prevention and control, patient safety, emergency preparedness, and clinical risk management. Prepare and submit periodic reports on nursing activities, clinical operations, staffing, incidents, patient care, and other relevant performance indicators. Handle clinical staff concerns and disciplinary matters in collaboration with Human Resources and Management. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, conduct, performance, and adherence to established hospital policies. Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, compassion, and excellent patient experience. Monitor the availability and appropriate use of medical supplies, nursing equipment, and other clinical resources. Develop and maintain effective nursing procedures, protocols, and standards in line with professional and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, professional standards, hospital policies, and relevant regulatory requirements. Participate in hospital management meetings and provide professional recommendations on clinical and operational matters. Perform other duties as may be assigned by Senior Management. Qualifications and Professional Requirements: Strong understanding of hospital administration, nursing operations, clinical governance, patient safety, and quality assurance. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple clinical and administrative responsibilities. Excellent knowledge of nursing standards, infection prevention and control, documentation, and clinical protocols. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, preferably with substantial experience: in a hospital or maternity facility. Must be a duly registered and licensed Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) with a valid practising licence. Must have graduated from a reputable and recognized nursing institution. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accountability. Demonstrable experience: managing and supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams. Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc/B.Sc. Nursing) or equivalent recognized nursing qualification. Strong leadership, decision-making, conflict-resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven experience: in a senior nursing, supervisory, matron, clinical leadership, or hospital administration role. Candidates with additional qualifications or certifications in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Nursing Administration, or related fields will have an added advantage. The Ideal Candidate: We are particularly interested in a candidate who has successfully led nursing teams, managed clinical operations, supervised hospital staff, implemented quality standards, and contributed to the effective administration and growth of a healthcare facility. The successful candidate must demonstrate professional maturity, integrity, discipline, emotional intelligence, sound clinical judgment, leadership presence, and a strong commitment to patient-centred care. The ideal candidate must be a seasoned nursing professional and strong healthcare leader who can effectively combine clinical competence with hospital administration. Salary N150,000 - N180,000 monthly.
