The ideal candidate will be a seasoned downstream oil & gas professional with at least 10 years of hands-on experience: managing retail stations and multi-site operations, preferably gained in a highly structured and professionally managed organization in leading downstream companies. We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic Retail Operations Manager to lead and strengthen the operational performance of our growing network of retail stations across the South-East. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong operational judgment, commercial awareness, systems thinking and the ability to integrate multiple functions to deliver safe, efficient, profitable and sustainable station operations. Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with applicable downstream oil & gas regulations, HSE requirements: and industry best practices. Provide management with accurate operational reports, insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. Oversee end-to-end station operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, company policies and established operating procedures. Identify operational gaps and leakages and implement practical, sustainable solutions that support business growth and block leakages. Establish performance standards and accountability frameworks for Station Managers and other operational teams. Ensure effective coordination between station teams and the haulage function to optimize product availability, delivery timelines, fleet utilization and supply reliability. Provide operational input into budgeting, business planning, expansion and the establishment of new outlets. Partner with Maintenance teams to ensure timely preventive and corrective maintenance of stations, equipment and critical infrastructure. Monitor station profitability, sales performance, operating costs, stock movement, product losses, cash management and other critical business indicators. Support the effective integration of Operations, Finance, Audit, Maintenance, HR, Haulage and other support functions in driving station performance. Provide strategic and operational leadership across the company’s growing network of retail stations in the South-East. Manage the critical intersection between haulage operations, product supply, depot loading, transportation, station receiving and retail sales, ensuring efficient product movement and minimal operational losses. Develop and strengthen systems, processes and controls that improve operational efficiency, accountability, profitability and sustainability. Lead initiatives aimed at restructuring, operational transformation and continuous improvement across the retail network. Work closely with Finance and Audit to strengthen financial controls, reconciliation processes, inventory accountability and risk management. Candidate Requirements: Proven experience: in setting up systems, improving processes and driving operational restructuring or transformation. Ability to work with data and operational performance indicators to drive decisions and accountability. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership/management capacity within retail station operations or a closely related downstream function. Must be willing and able to travel extensively across the South-East as required. Must be willing to relocate to Imo State or reside within Imo State. Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience: in downstream oil & gas retail operations, with substantial experience: managing filling stations and multi-site retail operations. Demonstrable experience: overseeing multiple stations/outlets and managing geographically distributed operations. Strong understanding of fuel haulage, product supply, station receiving, inventory movement and retail station operations. Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capabilities. Strong understanding of station profitability, inventory controls, product losses, reconciliation and operational risk. Strong knowledge of HSE requirements: and operational compliance within the downstream oil & gas industry. Excellent communication, reporting and organizational skills. Previous experience: in a highly structured and professionally organized downstream oil & gas company is strongly preferred. Proven ability to coordinate and integrate Operations, Finance, Audit, Maintenance, HR and Haulage functions toward common business objectives. Strong leadership, people management, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills. Good understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, cost management and business management.
