We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Assistant Tax Manager Location: Ijesha, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities: Tax Compliance: Prepare and file all statutory tax returns accurately and within regulatory deadlines. Compute and reconcile monthly and annual tax liabilities. Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on compliance requirements. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. Tax Planning and Advisory: Support management in evaluating the tax implications of business decisions and projects. Assist in developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize the organization’s tax position while ensuring regulatory compliance. Provide tax guidance to internal stakeholders on business transactions and contracts. Tax Reporting and Reconciliation: Reconcile tax accounts with the general ledger. Prepare tax schedules and reconciliations for financial reporting. Ensure accurate tax provisions in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports for management. Audit and Regulatory Liaison: Coordinate tax audits conducted by regulatory authorities and external auditors. Liaise with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), State Internal Revenue Services, and other regulatory agencies. Prepare and submit responses to tax queries and assessments. Ensure prompt resolution of tax disputes and outstanding tax matters. Indirect and Withholding Taxes: Ensure timely remittance of all tax deductions. Manage Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Company Income Tax (CIT), Education: Tax, National Information Technology Development Levy (NITDA Levy), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and other applicable statutory taxes. Process Improvement: Maintain accurate tax documentation and records. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and internal controls. Support the implementation of tax compliance systems and automation initiatives. Team Support: Perform other duties assigned by the Tax Manager. Supervise and mentor junior tax officers where applicable. Support cross-functional teams on tax-related matters. Requirements: ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) qualification is mandatory. High level of integrity and confidentiality. ACCA or CITN (Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria) certification is an added advantage. Strong analytical and financial reporting skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet statutory deadlines. Knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements. Attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience: with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar accounting software.
