NGO job applications in Nigeria
NGO recruitment often uses programme, donor, duty-station and contract language. Read the description for the project context, contract length, reporting line and whether the role is national or international.
Tailor the CV to the advertised competencies. Show concrete examples of coordination, reporting, community engagement, safeguarding, monitoring and evaluation, grant management, logistics or technical delivery where relevant. Use numbers only when you can explain the evidence.
International organisations may ask for a cover letter, competency answers, a completed application form or a specific email subject line. Follow those instructions exactly. A strong application can be rejected when a required reference, form or deadline is missing.
Confirm whether the application goes to the NGO, a United Nations portal, a donor platform or a recognised applicant-tracking system. Use the original advert and official domain, and keep a copy of the submission confirmation.
NGO candidates should never pay an agent for shortlisting, training, medical checks, visa processing or placement. Be careful with messages through personal accounts, requests for sensitive documents before an interview, or pressure to pay before a verifiable employer is identified.
